What to do on top of swimming?

Ive started swimming because of an injury but i love it. What else can I do to increase strength and muscle tone? i cant do a work out video now any other suggestions? Tried exercise bike and with my ankle pain nope Do i stick to basic squats, arm exercises and abs? Or is swimming enough?

    What about low intensity weight training. I use machines at the gym called hoist. They seem to keep your body in the proper position and there is almost no jerking. A very smooth workout.

    would that be safe with a sprain ankle and shin splint
