Nicely done. I went to the UK version today as a treat, and ate up to (I overestimated, but I can't be sure how much by) 1,737 calories.

Put me a maximum of 554 over for the day, which is more than you ate in your whole meal.

    So worth it, though.

I'd never been to a Golden Corral until a couple of years ago when we visited family in Atlanta. Homer Simpson would have been proud of me!

I can never eat normal portions at a buffet, because I feel like I have to get my $$$$ worth of food! LOL This is why we rarely go to buffets anymore, and we live in the buffet capital of the world...Las Vegas. :)

friends and I lovingly refer to Golden Corral as the "Hog Trough".

i can't even go to places like that - i recognize that i have zero will power.

    good for you!

    AWESOME SELF CONTROL!!!!

I had a similar NSV a few days ago while on vacation. Went to a VERY popular buffet that had over 170 items on the menu. I chose all grilled or baked foods and ended up getting under 7 items off the menu! Mine was higher in cals, but I had the cals to spare

agreed. Went to the one in Albany, felt like steer on my way to slaughter.. the place was DISGuSTING! I will never go to one again. I do however enjoy a couple of chinese buffets around here, but don't go too often because it's always a big meal to get my moneys worth...

How do you feel about paying out the *kitten* for that much food?

I mean, WTG on the self control, but I would want my damn $14 worth.

Yeah, when I go to GC, I definitely plan on getting my money's worth so my approach is 'I am here to enjoy myself even if I do feel like a fat slug after.' Every now and then I just need that feeling.

Bravo on your self-control though. 518 calories isn't that bad at all in the big scheme of things.

The whole family kinda got burned out on GC and a few other buffets way before any diet/fitness/lifestyle changes.
And yeah, I felt like I needed to eat my money's worth.

Heck my Dad was trying to take us to a good buffet a few days ago. We turned him down.:noway:

Good on you! I always eat a bunch of salad with low cal ranch dressing, I can defiantly eat 10.00 worth of salad
