I've searched around a bit, and can't find one under $300, surely they come a bit cheaper than that?

I need it to be waterproof for lap swimming.

Most HRM's are not waterproof but they are water resistant.. I know the Polars are up to 30 meters or something like that.
You can pick up the FT4 for around 60 dollars on Amazon but how well it works in a pool, I don't know.. I've never tested that feature.

Hrm. Yeah, water resistant would be OK. I had a water resistant watch I used to use when timing my laps.

thanks for the heads up, i'll check out the polar on amazon.
  • I just bought a polar rs300x for about 125... You can go 50 meters...I really like mine

Yes. The Polar is great. I've had mine to 90 feet deep on a scuba dive, and I've used it hundreds of times in the pools. Make sure you rinse it well after use....pool chemicals and salt water are not good for the seals. Also, you can't change the battery yourself with Polar, and it costs a minimum of about $40 to send it in for new batteries.

This only applies to the older Polar F Series Models.

All the new FT Series can have user replaceable batteries.
