My recent fave
1 frozen banana
1 dannon pineapple coconut
1 tbs ground flax (optional)
1 pkt strawberry crystal light0 -
1 Cup Frozen Strawberries
1/2 Cup milk or orange juice
2 containers of key lime pie yogurt
*Makes 2 servings
I like this recipe because you can make it really low fat by getting fat free yogurt and using skim milk. Throw in a banana to get some added nutrients and to make it creamier.0 -
Thanks everybody!
I am looking for new ways to incorporate the 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day for the family and I think the kids are tired of snacking on cucumbers, celery, broccoli and carrot sticks! I saw a show on BBC last night that recommended smoothies for kids. I am also thinking yogurt/ fruit/ granola parfait in the mornings and also making our own fruit and veggie juice.
Any other suggestions?
PS... The kids are really great at eating their fruits and veggies as snacks... I just want to "spice it up" and add a little variety!0 -
My faves are similar to everyone else's, but I like to add almonds and I use Fiber One yogurt to add some fiber. Also, instead of adding ice, I use all frozen fruit and I use more than most. I've read you can even add fresh baby spinach for nutrients without changing the flavor of the smoothie, but I haven't tried it myself.0

I got a great one for the kids....chocolate banana shake/smoothie
1 frozen BANANA
1/2 pkg. of jello instant pudding chocolate (can use fat free or sugar free)
1 to 1 1/2 cups milk ( I like using vanilla soy light)
1 cup of ice.
Blend it all together and make sure the pudding really gets incorperated. The longer you let it sit...the thicker it gets...and it is so good. I sometimes use only 1/4 of the pkg and put in a scoop of protein powder or some peanut butter....yum!0 -
1 scoop protein powder (your favorite flavor)
1 cup of frozen mixed berries
10 oz. water or vanilla flavored soy milk
Berries are great antioxidants and protein for your muscle!0 -
