Sugar intake.. is it ok to go over your daily target with na

My caloric daily target is around 1200, in addition to what I gain from working out.. but recently I have been reaching my sugar, fiber and protein goal way before I reach my calorie goal. I typically eat 3 fruits a day (high in sugar), lots of veggies (high in fiber and sugar) and I eat ham (for protein .. I was vegetarian, started eating meat and gained weight.. so now I keep it to the minimum..).

What’s more important, to reach your calorie goal or watch the overall intake??

PS. I think my food diary is open, please let me know if not.

Assuming you're eating in a calorie deficit and assuming normal insulin function (non diabetic), I wouldn't worry about it too much especially considering that your food choices aren't idiotic.

Sugar is sugar. Fruits and veggies have many other nutrients which justify the sugar content, but eating too much still has the same detrimental effects as any other type of sugary food.

Your diary isn't open, but I read that you shouldn't eat more than 10% of your daily calories from sugar. For a 2000 calorie/day this is 50g so for your 1200 it should be no more than 30g.

As for what's more important, when you're initially losing weight, keeping an accurate calorie count is the most important. For overall health and fitness, watching sugar is a must.

I wouldn't worry about it if the sugar is coming from fruits and not from Kit Kats :-)

I eat Fun Dip candy nearly every day. Or something sweet. I'm over in sugar a lot. I've lost 63 pounds. So I think it's okay.... not ideal, per se, but it all depends on your goals and what works for you.

My sugar is over everyday and it all comes from fruit and veggies. I'm on the diabetic diet to avoid insulin so it really matters, for me, where they come from. I run 20-40 over in my MFP sugars daily and still stay in the range set by my Dr.

    Thanks for the update!!!

I’ve been watching what I’m eating a lot.. and I just don’t seem to lose much.. maybe .5 to half a lb per wk.. so I thought it was because I was consuming to much sugar…

Thanks again for the input 
