Is there a trick to swimming with your Polar FT4 hrm. I've tried it twice and both times I have gotten a message to check heart rate transmitter. Am I doing something wrong? Do you think there is something wrong with my hrm? Thanks.

I swim with my FT4 all the time with no issues. Maybe make sure the strap is tight enough and the electrodes are clean (I hand wash mine in soapy water about once a week). Also, I turn it on before I start swimming and avoid pressing any buttons while under water. Good luck!

I use mine with no problem. At first I tried leaving the watch at the side of the pool but got the same message, Wearing the watch I have no problems.

I have read numerous times on the polar website that if the chlorine content is higher than normal it can cause erratic readings or the HRM is unable to detect the heart rate.
  • great news I cant wait til the pool opens

What kind of soap do you use? Is there anything that should not be in the soap or should it very mild?
