This morning was an absolutly beautiful morning for a run. It started out rocky..the first quarter mile was brutal and didn't think I would be able to do it today. OMG, was I wrong..I got into a great pace and was thoroughly enjoying the great outdoors..I ran on some trails and I didn't want to stop..

Once I got home I pushed my sensor and I ran 5 miles in under 1 hour! For me that is fabulous:) Today, I felt accomplished and like a real runner. I usually run between 3 and 4 miles 3 days a week..This week 19 miles. I can't tell you how fabulous I am feeling. A year ago I could barely walk around the block:)

I never would have imagined I would LOVE running..a couch potato who now craves daily exercise and fitness..What started out as a chore to help shed 60 pounds..is now an addiction..Running/fitness bring peace into my world:)

Now, I need to figure out how to eat some of those exercise calories back..I know I should..right now I'm eating 1250 cals. and I don't think it's enough to fuel my body..

Thanks for reading about my victory
Dawn

That is so great Dawn! I was quite the couch potato myself until last February when I decided enough was enough. I have 2 small kids and with the pregnancies came the weight. I started off slow just walking and counting calories. Walking got old when summer came, so I joined the gym and started working out for real. I found running in October. At first I could only do intervals (1 min running, ! minute walking). After a couple weeks of that, I decided to test myself. I put my towel over the time, cranked up the music and just started running (or should I say slowly jogging at a 5.0) to my surprise, I ran/jogged for 18 minutes straight!

Since then, I crave running! I love being outside when the weather is nice. I live in Southern California and we do get a lot of nice days. I have surprised myself at how fast I can run a mile. Now I am at 6 miles in an hour.

Keep it up! Feel free to add me. I love hearing from other runners and giving/receiving motivation

as for eating calories back. My sister is a personal trainer and tells me that you shouldn't eat back all your workout calories. Eating back some is good, but only eat if you are hungry and make it healthy choices (duh!) I typically burn 600 calories when I go out running and my calorie goals seem similar to yours. I have done just fine so far and lost 25 lbs

Congrats! That is awesome. It is so great when you find that perfect pace. I just finished C25K in February and ran my longest distance (5 miles) last week. A lot of times the first mile or more is tough for me, and then it gets better. You probably could eat a little more. I keep raising my calories a little, and am still averaging 1/2 to 1 pound a week (although the loss only shows up every other week or so!) and I am in the middle of my healthy weight range.
