Hiking calorie estimates accurate?

I hiked for a couple of hours today. I logged the exercise, and it equals about a whole day's worth of calories. Can that be right? I was pretty tired and hungry by the end of the hike, but that still seems like a lot of calories.

Probably not very accurate, since it only goes by time, not pace, incline or distance covered.
If you know where you went, or even the number of miles you covered, you can plot a map or just log the distance, with the time you spent, on Runkeeper.com or Mapmyrun.com. I use one of those sites to calculate calories when I walk or hike with the dog, or run in my neighborhood.0 -
