Fitbit miles versus GPS miles

I went to a high school track this morning to test the accuracy of my fitbit. I walked two quarter mile laps. My GPS measured it as .5 miles, as it should. But my fitbit measured it as .7 miles, which is clearly incorrect. Does anybody know how to correct this? Do I need to increase the fitbit setting for my stride length or decrease it? Any help would be appreciated?

Oops, I should have posted this on the fitbit site. I found the answer there. Sorry.0
