A more accurate guesstimate of the amount of calories you are burning per activity/workout you do.

Some of the online calculators are a little, well generous to say the least in terms of how many calories you burn.

The advantages are way over-exaggerated. Save your money, kick *kitten* in the gym, and set a safe calorie deficit; don't worry about the rest.

the advantages are that you can work out more accurately the calories you have burned, you can use lots of different formulas to help you do this. The Karvonen formula is said to be one of the most accurate without getting too technical and you can find it on line.

However I think the best use of them is that on the days when you fool yourself that you are working hard because you are just shattered or having a bad day, the heart rate monitor doesn't lie, it says........... who are you kidding get your *kitten* in gear babe!!!

So my advice, get one if you need a kick up the but every now and then, it can be your own little personal trainer

I suggest checking ebay if you're interested in getting one. I just got a monitor last night for 6 pennies and $5 in shipping.
