Calorie Accuracy?

Hi everyone. Liking My Fitness Pal and planning on using it to my fullest potential. Noticed something strange though and am seeking some guidance.

From my experience, a carb is worth 7 calories, a fat gram is 9, and protein is worth 4 calories. If I do the math, my daily calorie goal is actually 900 calories short of the carb + fat + protein math. It is much more accurate when I use the same math on my actual daily results where MFP is only 45 calories higher than listed.

e.g. I am allowed 1990 calories, 299 carbs, 55 fat, 75 protein. The math (299*7)+(55*9)+(75*4) = 2888 for an overage of 898 calories. When I calculated my actual calories for the day the math was much closer, so for some reason the values are not the same throughout.

Is there a reason for this or a way to alter the values or am I missing something? Thanks for any insight!

Yup, previous poster is right, doing the math, 299*4 = 1196, 75*4= 300, and 55*9=495 for a total of 1991.

Yup, Thanks! Guess I should skip the Alcohol - adds calories and hinders proper mathematics. The world is right again!
