Balance vs. Correct for exercises

I'm doing resistance training with a band and am having trouble with a few of the leg exercises. They require me to balance on either leg while extending the other behind me. I can't do more than 4-5 reps before I start falling over, though when I work to maintain my balance, I'm not doing the exercise correctly. TBH, I feel more burn trying to stay upright than standing up with knees bent and abs clenched. I get the same with squats. I can't keep my feet flat and stand up without falling over.
Is it better to keep my balance or do the exercise correctly even though I'll fall down?

I do Hindu squats. I keep one habd on a table just to balance not to push up. Knell down and touch floor with one hand that is free. Do 100 a day and you se results the first week. I do 25 at a time. At home or work you can do them anywhere. Increase by 100 a week after your second week. Good luck and congratulations on your weight loss.0
