Starting Again After a Bad Day

Obviously, like many people today, I had a terrific Easter. Which means I had a terrible day according to MFP!
Now, I'm taking full responsibility for this 5000 calorie day lol, but my question is: What do I do tomorrow? Do I start off with my usual routine, or do I have a smaller intake and less calories tomorrow? Do I skip breakfast to account for some of today or just move on like nothing happened?

Oh god same, eaten my own body weight I'm sure. You should move on like nothing happened - don't punish yourself x0

tommorow is a new day short memory baby0

Move on like nothing happened. It's just one day. It's not going to kill you. Only thing is I would make sure to get your water in. But otherwise move on.
If you do put on weight don't sweat it. Remember you want a downward trend and there will be weeks where you don't lose. But as long as the trend is downward you're fine.0 -
I'm just planning on making tomorrow business as usual.0

We've all done it. Climb back on the wagon like nothing happened.0

Maybe see a doctor and have some blood work done.0

I like that, a little amnesia goes a long way!0

I'm going to punish myself tonight when i hit the gym. Tomorrow is business as usual.0

I'm planning on just calling today a free day. But I still going to add a little more time at the gym tomorrow.0

The best thing to do would be to continue with a regular routine. Maybe add a little more exercise in tomorrow, but no worries about anything else. A binge once in a while isn't horribly detrimental. And it is NEVER a good idea to skip breakfast.0

This is not a good plan. Your body needs energy and fuel. Starving yourself is not the answer.
To the OP - I agree with everyone else. Forget it and move on.0 -
Okay, I'll have my usual breakfast then, along with my regular diet. Thanks for the input everyone.

Eat normally. Eat your veggies....stay in calories...exercise as usual...0

I had a bad day too. A good Easter but a bad health day. I came down with a really bad cold so I feel sick. Too sick to get up and be my cheery, active self. Got NO house cleaning done. Less than zero exercise. Ate 2500 calories in junk food....Ate my daughter's Easter candy. Was mad at my LAZY husband. Just all around a no good, very bad day.
But it was the first real bad unplanned eating day I have had since my weight loss journey started on Dec6th, 2011. So maybe in the scope of things it isn't too awfully bad. I am just worried all those carbs and sugar will bring back those vicious cravings and the next few days will be a struggle. My mantra for tomorrow is ...focus.
I will not let a bad day derail me. I am capable of controlling myself. The weight loss these past four months proves that.
I feel good about my weight loss and I want to continue. And I will. Please let me have control of my urges.0 -
Maybe see a doctor and have some blood work done.
What will blood work show...a bad case of Easteritis? Really, what blood work do you mean?0 -
Continue as normal. Heck, I've already done 30 minutes on the exercise bike for today.
I will probably keep an eye out for extra temptations and sodium.
My sodium was already high for the week.
Extra temptations will need to be avoided or controlled. It was a nice free day but I don't need to turn it into several days or weeks.
Tomorrow, if the weather holds out, I have a C25K run planned.
I might get a little extra walking in for today's meal.0 -
I too ate way too much today. I plan to eat normally within my calorie range, drink lots of fluids and maybe add some time to all my workouts this week. My problem will be the large amount of sodium I ate today. Tomorrow I will bloat with water!0

That's a really good way to teach your body to not count on you for food and start slowing your metabolism, making it harder to lose weight. If you're really worried about fitting into your 00 and XS clothes, start eating and start lifting.0
