When temptation slowly creeps up...

I am on day 7 of healthy eating (only been here 5 days though). I am a yoyo dieter. I usually stop any healthy eating/fitness endeavors after 2-3 weeks. And it starts by me adding a little wiggle room for addictive foods-ice cream, chocolate, chips and snack foods.

In my case, if I even cave in the slightest, I quickly get very all or nothing about it, and quit. Or I lie to myself and say I will work it off tomorrow, only somehow my endurance level at the gym starts wearing off, and I stop exercising.

This ALWAYS happens and I am so sick of it. I want to get this DONE. And I need you guys help. Please, any words of wisdom or advice you can shell out over my way would be greatly appreciated. I want to conquer this beast.

Don't try to cut everything unhealthy out completely. You're more likely to quit eating healthy if you don't allow yourself any leeway when it comes to your favorite treats.
Eat balanced meals & snacks all day & have a serving of ice cream or a cookie or something somewhere in there. You don't have to go work it off, just make it fit into your day!
If actual junk foods are too tempting to eat way too much of, try something healthier like making some chocolate dipped strawberries (or other fruit) & having that as your dessert.
You can also find healthier snack foods (air popped popcorn, natural/organic versions of sweets, items with less processing, etc)
And exercise to increase your fitness, not just to work off food. If you have a bad day, don't stress out, have a glass of water & do better the next day!

I have motivation issues, too. Serious ones, and a life long yo yo pattern. One thing that has been helping me is recording everything I eat, even if I go over (and I often do). At least that way when I go off track, I have something reminding me several times a day to get back on track. I even make this site my home page. It's in my face every time I open my browser.

thank you sweetie. i definitely do want to make fitness a health priority, not a weight loss thing. i have been undereating (all 5 days of my log have been under 1000 calories) and i know where this leads but there is this compulsion to force myself to adhere to this strict set of rules.

i would love to be strong and have endurance, endurance being the biggest thing for me. i want to do a marathon.
i do have issues with overindulging, i do thank god that i have never gained a pound, even after eating tons of junk food for years. when i eat something that tastes really good to me, even if im full i will sit there and eat it because of the endorphin effect.

ya know when you completely deprive yourself, eventually that iron will will weaken.
When it does....whether its sex, alcohol, food, whatever the desire to binge can be overwhelming. I tend to have an all or nothing attitude too. What works for me is allowing myself a small amount of what I'm craving. If I want a BK whopper, instead I'll get a wopper jr. no mayo. no cheese. load up on the veggies. If I'm craving pizza sure I'll order the thin crust. no cheese ,two slices.
Stick to Moderation, watch your daily goals, work in your cardio and it will be ok.

When it comes to "temptation" foods, if I'm tempted, I'll try to satisfy the craving as soon as possible with a very small serving (like a couple of bites of cake or donut...usually, afer 2 or 3 bites, the temptation is satisfied, and I've not completely screwed my calorie intake for the day). :)
