Braised Radishes

Hi, everybody!
We got some radishes a few months ago from our CSA box and were like wtf are we supposed to do with these..?
Turns out that you don't have to slice them up raw and put them on salad - you can cook them too! It changes them from something mildly tart and bitter to a flavor much warmer and nuttier! This recipe is simple and fantastic!
Chop:
- One bunch of radishes into halves
- A carrot or two
- 1/2 onion (or a full one if you're a big onion-eater)
Bring a quart of water to boil and throw in some veggie bullion. Bring it back to a boil and throw in your radishes.
Turn down the heat until the water is at a slow boil and let the water reduce until there's about 1 inch left in the pan. Toss in the carrot and onion bits.
By the time the water has reduced to nearly nothing, your radishes should be easily pierced with a fork and your carrots and onions should be cooked through.
Eat it up!!!!!!!

Thanks for the pro-tip. Never cooked with radishes before, but they are very good for you. You can eat the leaves too, sauteed in a little olive oil.
I love trying new foods. I will scoop up some radishes next time I stop by the store.0 -
We had a big garden when I was a kid. My Dad LOVED radishes and we'd have them all the time. But, I've never had them cooked. I'm absolutely going to try this. Thanks!0

I've been meaning to look up some recipes using radishes and glad I came across this one. My husband added some to our garden and I do NOT enjoy them! I had no idea they were so "spicy". The only thing I've done with them is add them into the crock pot with a beef raost, carrots, and potatoes. It gave a bit of spicy flavor to the veggies and the kids and my hubby loved it.0

Tried this over the weekend and everyone loved them. And I am not a fan of fresh radishes!
