This is probably a weird question...

I've lost 12 pounds since February (3 before MFP) and I've seen the weight coming off (still have 18 more pounds to go, but getting there!) but I feel like I'm losing fat in weird places.
My hands (for instance) are small and chubby lol (or have always been... even when I used to be super skinny) but now my fingers a little thinner, and you can tell I've lost fat in my hands because you can see my veins (at all times, not just after running or something) and you can also see the... bones? when I move my fingers.
And I'm just wondering... why my hands??? Why can't I lose it in my stomach for Pete's sake?:grumble:
The only exercise I do is cardio. I run almost every day (typically 3 miles) sometimes I take a short, couple mile walk or bike... but that's it.
Does anyone feel the same way? Like you're losing the fat that wasn't necessarily bugging you???(:

I noticed the same thing. It's like it starts from the outside and works its way in.0

LOL Yes!!!!!!!!!!! And in some places that I lose it, it makes the surrounding area look even bigger. But it has to start somewhere, right.0 -

Each body is different in the aspect of where it stores fat. So your body can just be storing in weird places.
On a side note, and not to be off topic, but from a fat loss perspective, you might want to look into doing some strength/resistance training. It is more beneficial to fat loss compared to cardio.0 -
i wish i could lose in my hands, my class ring is a size 5!
verry expensive too.0 -
In my years of yo-yoing I always lost around my collar bone first. Really? I have plenty in other places!
Unfortunately we can't control "where" we lose it from.0 -
Well if it helps I am down like 2 cup sizes... I would prefer not to lose it from there0

I agree on that, my weight and body really got going in the right direction once I added strength training! I believe you need both to get what you want! the cardio burns the calories and the strength training seems to burn the fat and helps sculpt your body..0 -

Seriously? I size 5 is less than average for woman, and in fact it's pretty small. Most women are a 7.0 -

Yep! I was hardcore into cardio, for a long time. I wasn't seeing any results. I started doing Kettle bells and strength combined with cardio and I am seeing my arms get toned after just a couple of weeks! LOVE!0 -
My legs...it seems to all be from my legs so far.0

I WISH I COULD LOSE FROM MY LEGS!0 -
Most people lose weight in their hands, wrists, and face first! Its the "problem areas" that take longer to lose weight in.
The same thing happened to me. It's also why people tell me "You're too thin! Stop losing weight!" But that's only because my face and hands are really skinny now....my tummy still needs work haha.0 -
I lost my tummy first and now my boobs :mad:0
-
I have lost almost 2 shoe sizes...yeah, go figure!!0

You made need to shock your body. Try some strength training. You can still do cardio, but add something different in it. Hope this helps.0

seriously??? I wish I could do that!!!!! No joke!0 -
Im having the same problem. I wish I could lose the weight evenly, but I feel like I've lost a lot from my sides, which is making my stomach, which was awful in the first place, look worse!!!! But like it was said "it has to start somewhere!" Im just glad I am losing some weight!0

LMAO!! I swear I hadn't even noticed that until you posted this & I looked at my hands...Sure enough...bones & veins that I haven't seen in a long long time....WTF?....So that is where the few lbs I have lost came off at....It couldn't of started with my double chin maybe?...UGH!!
Thanks for making me look! :laugh:0 -

Well at least your tummy goes first...I would kill for that...Boobs not so much...But I have so much on my tummy that it would take awhile to catch up to those...Plus, they are a couple sizes larger than I really need...More than a handful...You know what they say... I hope that wasn't TMI...Oops.0 -
How funny this came up today. Just last night I was complaining to my husband that my *kitten* is just as big as ever but yet my feet and hands are way thinner, bones, veins, tendons the works. But he pointed out if I lose 5 lbs it comes from all over my body not just hips or stomach. So when you think about how you're losing like .2 lbs from every part of your body it makes sense that your hands (that only have tops 1lb of fat on them) look thinner than your *kitten* (which in my case has 10lbs+ of fat on them). Your hands are losing the same weight as your thighs but at a much higher percentage, if that make sense.0

Definitely noticed in my shoe size. It didn't dawn on me until someone pointed it out, I just figured there was something up with my shoes, haha. I lose it in my face as well.....and sadly, like you have said, it's NOT the first place I'd like to lose it.0

LOL that wasnt tmi...im worried tho because i had watermelons when my hubby left...he's gonna come home to door knobs lol0 -
My feet and ankles!! You would really think mother nature would have the sense to make those the last to go instead of the first. I mean really, my bigger feet and ankles could barely support my weight, let alone these bird ankles I have now! I was wearing a 9 wide. I wore my sisters sneakers the other day to walk her dog and they were a 7 1/2!!! Regular!0

I am having the same issue, I lost around my collarbone and my neck, but cannot seem to lose my pooch and my hips. With time and when there is no where else from the fat to come from, I am sure it will happen, but I cant lose that much more weight without looking a little ill.0
