I have just started and I get 2040 calories ( to lose 2 lbs.per week hopefully ) . I have earned 1025 calories exercising. Am I suppose to eat 3065 calories today ? I use to do WW and you were suppose to eat all your points. Would appreciate any help i can get. TY.

Yes, eat those exercise calories....but, 1025 seems rather high...are you using some external measuring device like a Heart Rate Monitor, or using the calories given here?

With 80 pounds to lose, and 2040 as your base calories, you could probably eat around 2500-2700. That 1025 seems high, and you have a good amount of extra fat to lose.

I got that figure on this site. I put in 60 minutes of cycling and 30 minutes of walking and thats what it gave me. . I put in light excercise. I weight in about 300. Got about a hundred to lose.

I still say you can go with a somewhat lower number. You MAY have actually burned that amount, since you are near 300 pounds.

I still think you would be fine at 2500-2700 (that includes about half the exercise calories). Since you have so much extra weight, you can afford an even greater deficit. You would probably be fine eating none of your exercise calories at your weight. Be aware that as you get smaller (like under 250-ish) it will become much more crucial to eat more of those exercise calories. Right now, it's more important to get that weight off, and you have plenty of energy source in the body fat. Just pay close attention to eating nutrient-dense foods. Lots of vegetables and lean protein. Take a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement. Drink lots of water.

When I do 60 min on the bike the site says it is over 700calories but the bike says around 300. So I have been changing the 700 to about 350. then go and eat just about all of the calories :)

you're supposed to eat back your exercise ("earned") calories, but it's been said that persons with a higher amount of weight to lose can afford a slightly higher deficit. I'd say eat back half of your excercise calories to start out. Monitor weight closesly but mostly monitor HOW YOU FEEL. Experiment with it and see what works for you cuz everybody is different!!

    GOOD LUCK TO YOU ;0)

When I put in 40 minutes in my elliptical trainer, the website says almost 800 calories, but the computer on my trainer says like 500. So I always use the smaller number. Now, my trainer has no idea I weigh 300 lbs...so I might be burning 800...because MFP knows what I weigh. I find it's better to err on the under.

Yup, before i got an HRM i would use the lower number (which was most often the machine).

You can eat some, but I wouldn't recommend eating them all back. I saw just get in some nice protein after your workout and otherwise contiune eating as you would if you hadn't worked out.

There's a whole semi-complicated breakdown of how mfp gets there numbers and gives you back cals, but its just easier to somewhat ignore the cals they give you back. Thats how it is for me anyway

Thank you all very much. It was all very helpful and I do appreciate your time. I did not want to eat all those calories so i think i will eat some. Less than half try for a third at most. Once again thank you all.

I would check what you have you daily activity set at. I'm 270 and I get 1800 a day to loose 2 pounds a week. This site is bad a "guessing" the calories durned. I always round down the estimate.

That being said, don't just eat or eat crap to eat your calories back. That thinking does not help.

That seems close. 300 lb 2040 day.
