Yesterday I completed Week 2 Day 2 of the Couch-2-5K program. Was wondering how many others of you have done or are doing this program? I have had a partial knee replacement (5 years ago) in my left knee, and have right foot/ankle issues; so part of my reasoning for starting this is to strengthen my legs, knees, ankles, and feet after five years of so much injury and weakness. Yesterday was my first time to do the program on a treadmill versus outdoors on the concrete - it seemed SO much easier! Now, right now I am only doing jogging increments of 90 seconds in between 2 minute segments of walking. I am so proud of myself for being able to do the 90 seconds - but every time I do it I wonder, "How in the hell am I going to be able to do a 5K??"

Does the endurance get better, especially for someone with knee/foot issues?
Does the pain go away during the jogging portion (in the shins and Achilles areas?)?

I get frustrated with how hard it is for me to do what should be simple and easy, in my opinion. Just wanting to know that it works!

Hey there, I can't give you any advice on the endurance or pain as i've just started the C25K and will be doing W1R3 tomorrow, but my friend is now on Week 7 and she says it definitely gets easier as you go along, I think the trick is definitely to pace yourself. I was reading online last night and there are alot of success stories out there for this program from people who have lost weight/inches and have gone on to run marathon's and they all put it down to starting C25K. So it sounds like its worth hanging in there. Good Luck hope things get easier for you!!

I had HORRIBLE ankle and feet issues starting last August. Turns out I had gout (not many people know this btw lol) and a series of other health related problems arising from my obesity. My doctor regulated everything (gout, thyroid, sugars) and now that is all regulated, I've had zero pain but for the pain I will occasionally get after running. Some minor ankle pain and cramps. I can't speak to the knee issues.

The endurance DOES get easier. If I can run with this extra 100 lbs and go a little longer each time, you can do it. I would check with your doctor if you can on the knee issue - or someone here.

I've learned it's not so much about distance or speed right now - it's about endurance. Being able to keep going.

YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!! Keep on keepin' on, sister! We have zombies to beat come December.

    Love you lots!
