Yes, I joined like everyone else did in the beginning of the New Year and I am still here because I am not giving up. NO WAY! I have always struggled with weight loss but more now then ever before because got to admit that I am no longer in the 20s and the metabolism is going slower and slower.

I have been trying to make this a life style change and not a diet so if need be, I will go out to eat, but I will track my calories and move on. I work out at least 5-6 times in a normal week. I have been struggling with protein and trying to keep the carbs low. I just upped my protein so that I eat a lot more before I eat any other forms or calories. I have only lost 9 pounds since the beginning of the year (mostly in Jan), but I have lost about 15 or so inches.

I know I should not focus on the scale, but I need it go down for health reasons. I will not give up my workouts, but how do I make my scale go down. I don't think I have difficulty in working out because I burn anywhere from 400-700 calories per workout using a heart rate monitor….

I am a vegetarian so that makes my food intake a bit more challenging. I don't even eat eggs or seafood, but I will have dairy. This week I have started to drink more water and try to have more protein mainly protein powder (isopure zero carb).

I started getting so discouraged with the scale that I just stopped weighing myself all together but I am so tempted to just hop on...and the funny part is that March 28th was my last weigh in day...talk about being an addict! How do I proceed? It's so difficult to keep the motivation going in this case...

Keep your chin up, never stop logging and watch portions size. The scale will start show the results. :flowerforyou:

A NINE POUND LOSS SINCE NEW YEARS IS PROGRESS AND PROOF OF YOUR HARD WORK. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED LOVE. I WOULD SIT AT A STANDSTILL FOR MONTHS AND FEEL LIEK THROWING IN THE TOWEL BUT DON'T. JUST SWITCH UP YOUR ROUTINE. TRY A DIFFERENT WORKOUT. INTERVAL TRAINING? JUMP ROPE? SWIMMING? ADD SOME WEIGHTS TO YOUR ROUTINE... FIND WAYS TO PUSH HARDER AND ALWAYS BE OPEN TO TRYING NEW THINGS. OUR BODIES CAN ADAPT QUICKLY SO IT'S BEST TO SWITCH IT UP. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! DO NOT GIVE UP :)

I've seen a few people on here say that they generally had it one way or the other - they lost a lot of inches for a while but little on the scale and then they had a big scale drop and less inches and vice versa. Not sure how universally true that i but that is some people's experience.

If you are losing inches then I imagine you must be losing body fat and that is the main thing that endangering health really.

Maybe you should just try and weigh less often and be less stressed about the scales. Go away, follow your calories carefully and weight yourself after a few weeks and see how well you've done

Stay strong and definately don't let the scale be the demon!! I only weigh myself once a week and sometimes don't weigh myself for a couple of weeks. I go by how my clothes fit and how I feel. Obviously, some days I feel like a supermodel and other days I feel so frumpy and gross. Everyone has the same issues at some point and we all hit "road blocks" that we must push out of the way and continue on. I can't tell you that I know how it is for your eating because I am a true carnivour  , but just stay strong and keep at it. We are all here to get healthy and stay healthy for life. Add me as a friend if you like....

I went from doing turbo fire 5 out of 7 days with not much scale movement to couch to 5K and he scale started moving. Now I do both on alternating days but dont kill myself. My body is a brat and gets used to a certain type of exercise so I have to trick it and mix it up. Sounds silly but true. I also take shakology for the nutrition and drink about 130-150 oz of water a day. Hang in there anything steps you take are better than where you started.

15 inches is amazing progress! I think we do get kinda stuck on the scale to tell us if we are making progress instead of our clothes and our body. Are you feeling better and sleeping better? Are your clothes looser? Those are the real questions. The scale can be deceiving due to water weight and salt intake. The best judge is inches and clothes. And if you are losing inches you are healthier as well. Don't give up! :)

In terms of low carb as a vegetarian, I can offer some input as I've tried that. It really comes down to salad and protein bars. If you built a huge salad around dark greens (red leaf and spinach) add some 2% cheese, an avocado, and not too many veggies, maybe add some sunflower seeds, you have yourself a huge low carb, high protein meal. Also check out the Atkins bars. They make a chocolate protein bar that is delicious. It is 19g of protein and is only 2 net carbs. (I don't think low carb is critical, but I understand your situation.) Also, not all fruit is equal. The berries and melons are lower in carbs. Finally there are some specific low carb products such as sugar free jello, low carb ice cream favors, and almond butter that are particularly helpful.

Best of luck and hang in there.

It sounds like youre making great progress! 15inches is awesome.
You should try mixing up your workout routine. Also since you have the protein powder an excellent recipe i use is this:
1 cup strawberries (i use frozen since i like mine to be cold like a smoothie)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (chocolate is yummy too)
1 1/2 cups almond milk -blend-

You can get frozen strawberries super cheap at costco. If this doesnt seem filling enough try putting a scoop of peanut butter. I use this for lunch because i dont really like eating lunch anyways. Good luck!
