frustrated with injuries

so here is the background information ... I have my left ankle in a brace during workouts because I am waiting for an ankle reconstruction, I wear a brace on my right knee because of a torn meniscus that will also be getting operated on this summer. I dropped a 25 pound weight plate on my foot about 5 weeks ago and shattered my big toe, so although I can now wear a sneaker comfortably I still baby it some.
My issue is that I have not let this stop me, slow me down yes, stop me absolutely not but its getting harder and harder to continue. For cardio I walk, run (this hurts the most), elliptical and bike. Tonight I ran on a 6.0 level but only for 5 minutes because of pain. I can never run long periods because it feels like my ankle will give out. Almost always have to come home and ice the knee as it is swollen.
Does anyone else just push through the pain and deal with it? I'm going to be 38 next week and I don't like dealing with all these body injuries. I've got to be honest I'm ready to throw the towel in and forget the whole thing. (and yes I know I can stop doing the exercises that hurt)

i can totally relate. just hang in there. do what you can. it is better than nothing. if you ice your knees often you might want to look into getting a cryocuff. it is awesome and literally allows me to walk on some days after heavy exercising. some insurance companies don't cover them, from what i am told, but mine always has. i have had three, over the last three years. they don't last too long with constant use. i have the electric model that you plug in to the wall. it is a bit noisy as it cycles, but after a day or two i got used to it and can now sleep thru it.
it will thoroughly ice your knees. you think you might be icing it now, but once you use the cryocuff you will realize how little you have been doing. google it.
i know i sound like a commercial for it, but having had 13 knee surgeries, this is one of the only things that i have ever found to work.
good luck. feel free to respond if you have any questions...0 -
I tore my PCL back in 2006, so it's painful to walk long distances and workout. Plus just got diagnosed w/osteopia and disc degeneration. So have gr8 pain in my lower back.0
