Meaning, how hard can u push ur body before it becomes too much? Like when on the elliptical my heart rate gets up to 150ish-160ish and the machines keeps telling me to slow down... but i dont always feel that i need to. Is it bad to run your body that hard? I use the "Fat Burn" setting on the elliptical and it wants my heart rate at 125... but that is REALLY REALLY slow for me, to the point that i find it hard to go that slow, for me it ends up being about 3.5-4 mph. Which is way to slow for me to get into a decent rythm on there. I am just confused

just do what feels right for your body. if you have no medical conditions, you feel comfortable going at a faster pace and having a higher heart rate then go for it. your body should dictate the intensity of your workouts, not a machine0

When i do treadmill/elliptical type stuff, i always do a manual workout and put up resistance/incline.
I generally keep my heart rate high 160's - low 170's. At least thats what it shows on the elliptical.
edit/ But as far as working out, i like to push myself till i reach failure, when you're so sore, you can hardly get up in the morning, or put on a seat belt, or even sit on the toilet. That is when you know you are pushing yourself. But like i said, i like to push to failure.0 -
You would probably be more comfortable on the "cardio" setting on the elliptical. It tries to put you at a high intensity, and for me that is 155. I like the manual setting myself and up the intensity on my own but try to keep to a 6.6- 7 mph pace. Give the cardio setting a try if you like getting your heart rate up and keeping it there0

I don't think that's really a bad thing... My heart rate will get up to the 190's if i'm really pushing myself when I'm doing cardio. I've been to the doctor for this and they said my heart is healthy so I guess it really just depends on the person. If you feel like you're about to pass out then you should stop. If you feel fine then it's probably ok to just keep going.0

You only burn so much fat in a day....so.....
Push hard for under an hour to avoid too much cortisol issues and call it a day!0 -
Best way to burn fat, is not to think about burning fat but think about building muscle. What burns the calories away when your sleeping, walking, sitting on a coach watching biggest loser etc? Your muscles are of course. The more muscles you have, the more calories they burn away.
I weigh 64kg. 2 months ago I weighed 64kg. Im 180 cm tall. Although my weight hasnt changed at all, the stomach I used to have is almost completely gone and now its kinda flat. There is still some fat there, sure but its only been two months and it is not round shaped anymore. Bottom lnie, muscle => fat burning MACHINE!
Consider doing strength training and HIIT workouts. (High intensity interval training 2x a week) with strength 3-4 days. Keep your workouts short and INTENSE. Trust me when I say 25 min of a HIIT workout will be worth far more than running on a treadmill for an hour+. Within the first 5-10 min your already fully sweating and breathing heavy.0 -
I make sure I'm not going to get injured. Outside of that, till the limbs start giving up. Take a break if you need to. To quote my coach "Listen to your body. Pushing yourself is good but if you're injured, you aint pushing nothing but a wheel chair"0
