I don't usually post new topics, however I'm having a slight issue with all of the chocolate easter eggs in my house. As a teacher I received TWO BAGS full of chocolate gifts, however I re gifted most of those. Now I have about 3 massive eggs left in the fridge and sitting on my bookshelf... Here is my predicament:
I don't want to be a narc and throw them out - I don't want to be one of 'those' people who can't simply enjoy a bit of chocolate as a treat. Plus I have other people in the house who can enjoy a bit of chocolate every now and then.
HOWEVER! I am only halfway to my goal.. AND as a recovering ED sufferer (It's been roughly one year since I have engaged in B/P activities...) I can't deal with them in front of me. I can't just have one little bit. I will, and have, eaten the whole thing. Two days ago I ate a 100g egg and spent two hours in the gym just to maintain calorie limit.
I am worried I am bordering on obsessive territory and I know in my heart and head that's not a good path to travel down.
So.. do I throw the chocolate out... or do I keep it in the fridge and use this as the greatest mental battle ever lived?

Just send them to me and ill be happy to take them off your hands :-) I didnt know you were a teacher, thats great im actually working on my credential to becoming a special education teacher.
I know the struggle with having bad food in the house, that is why i only get bad foods only if i know its ok so i will eat them, about the gifts if you can bring it to a church or a just leave it in the teachers lounge (i know they'll love you for it). Or bring it to a shelter. I would give to others i couldent throw food out, no matter how bad it is.0 -
If it is something that is going to trigger your ED then get rid of it. No guilt. No shame. Just toss it.
If you can hang in there for a day or two you can tell your housemates to either eat it or get rid of it. If it's in there after a couple days out it goes.
Entirely up to you.0 -
Give it away or throw it away. I don't bring bad food into the house...but when it lands in front of me, I end up eating it all. My logic is that if I eat it all now it won't be there to tempt me later. My logic drives my bf nuts.0

If you don't want to throw it out then I would suggest dividing it up. Decide how much you would be okay with eating at one time and cut it up into that size pieces then stick it all in the freezer. Then once a day or week or what ever treat yourself to just that one small piece.0

I can cope if something is still wrapped up but once it's opened all bets are off & I work on the same logic as an earlier poster eat it quick & then the problem's gone - seeing that written by someone else makes me see how crazy I'm being.0 -
I'm watching the Australian Biggest Loser: they're 11 weeks into the game and they have been served a 24 hr temptation. Fridges stocked full of snacks available to be eaten for 24 hours. A contestant stuck her head into the fridge and tried smelling the cold pizza! Just looking at all everything.. truly made me feel strange. Not a good strange... But then looking back at my diary, I've had so much chocolate, again! And that's through socialising with friends, chilling at home watching a movie... Argh I need to throw the rest of it out.
Thanks for the advice. I was worried for a bit when I didn't get any replies ... but forgot I'm on Aussie time and most of you were probably asleep! x0
