You won't get the *kitten* you want sitting on the one you have! ;) you're lucky enough to have a gym! I live in a small town and the closest gym is over an hours drive away :(.

I think the problem is that you probably don't want it bad enough.

I think thats the issue I don't have much weight to loose but just want to tone up what I have!! I would do more indoors but don't have the space lol

I'm naturally lazy and if you offer me a sofa I'll sit on it!

I do love going when I'm there...its just getting there...lol

Need a swift boot up the backside! lol

You will never regret going, you are not missing anything on the TV or the outside world.

So make a date each day and go. Even if you do not feel like it, just take small steps, get dressed, get in the car/ wallk out the house and do not stop until you are there.

I drag my butt from my desk most days and deal with it just like this. I come back to work feeling focused and glad i stepped out of the office.
  • I find it hard to motivate myself, but once I get there I'm fine. I think I am going to cancel my gym membership in May and get Wii Fit. Anyway, I don't think you need bullying, I think you need to find your motivation.

Maybe you should spark your motivation by making some rules for yourself. Like, for example, say you plan on going to the gym in the afternoon. If you don't go, then tell yourself you HAVE to get up an hour and a half earlier the next day so you can go to the gym before work. Or whatever works. Play a game with yourself, put some rules on it, and see if that gets you going more.

If you have a smart phone set a reminder in your calendar to go to the gym like you would any other appointment you have to keep.

Or find a gym buddy - someone to go to the gym with not necessarily to workout with, if you arrange to pick each other up then you are letting them down if you don't go, keep that up until it becomes a habit. That's what worked for me, i joined a gym with my SIL in november and we take it in turns to drive on set days, even though she has been ill since January I had got into the habit and still went 3 times a week.

I don't think about it, I just go. I treat it like an appointment - I block it out on my calendar and everything. There have been many days I don't want to do it, but I just go anyway. If I have it planned into my day, I don't have any excuses NOT to go!

Once you get there and get going you do great, I'm sure, so just GO! Don't think about what you're going to do, how you're going to do it, how you'll feel doing it - just GO!

What also worked for me at first was to make a fun jar and put $1 in it every time I worked out. Then, at the end of the month I'd use that money to go get myself something fun! If I worked out a bunch, I had a bunch of money! If I didn't, I didn't.

    You got this....

I like the fun jar idea!! :)

I gave up smoking a while ago so should be doing that anyway! :)

Thanks guys you are helping!! Great bullying!! lol x
  • I'd kick you in the *kitten* but it sounds like you are in another country.

In regards to the space issue, if you have room to stand, you have room to workout at home.

    Really.

    Was that harsh enough?

    LOL.

Just get dressed to go. for a while I was heading to the gym after my daughter went to bed at night but there was the risk that I would talk myself out of going before bedtime came around. I found that if I just got dressed in my gym clothes when I got home from work and before I started dinner, I was much more likely to go after she was in bed:)

    Great tips thanks!

I said bullying but in a friendly way :)
  • Do you have dumbells? You literally need no more space than your body takes up to lift at home.

try and find an ideal time of day to go and stick to it.

If I wait until the evening, i can easily make an excuse and not go because i'm too busy/hungry/full/tired etc etc. I''ve started going at lunchtime, I just put my stuff on and go and love it. It's quieter, and means at 5pm, i can relax into my evening.

Do you like the gym? Do you enjoy it when you go but have a hard time getting there? If you don't like it, find another way to work out (running, videos, home equipment, etc.), and then don't beat yourself up about the gym. If you do like it, keep telling yourself how great it will be when you get there. Sometimes I forget how much I like to run until I get out there and do it. Then, I wonder why I didn't do it sooner.
