So, I lost 40ish pounds over the past year (165 to 125, Size 14 to size 2)...but I still feel like I do not look how I want since I still look flabby but I feel like if I lose any more weight...my weight will be too low (I am 5ft 6in).

Any suggestions on how to lose the flab? I really have the belly flab going on for sure! Anyone else have this issue? How do you get rid of it? CAN you get rid of it???

Strength training and continue to eat right. Heavy lifting (lifting as much as you can) will build muscle. Eating right and building muscle will cause you to lower your body fat % which is the flab.

What above poster said. Lifting weights will give you muscle definition. Most women have the misconception that lifting weights will make them bulky and large... impossible, as women don't have the hormones to do that. All it will do is make you lean and toned. :)

Yep. Strength training. Ditch the scale and get a tape measure then start lifting and you will love what you see in the mirror.

You shouldn't go by the number on the scale, go by the way your body looks. My husband is 5'9 and 230lbs. According to charts, he is obese. He's cut and very muscular, and far from obese. The scale is evil, lol.

They are both right (above this post)! I used to think I would bulk up (I have big thighs) but it is the opposite. When I squat as much as I can and do leg presses until my knees want to buckle under me (and then go on a medium to long run a couple of days later) I am able to trim down the size of my thighs and butt. The same is for belly flab! Find some great ab exercises and do about 3 every 2-3 days and you will tone up in no time! Men's Health has some awesome exercises that have helped me (you don't have to be a man to do them!)
  • Pretty much seconding what's already been said. Scales are evil (still trying to break up with mine) and strength training/properly fueling your body is VERY important! Great job on your weight loss. :)

And if you want guidance, "New Rules of Lifting for Women" is a great book on learning how to lift heavy--like a woman!

Strength training to build muscle is the only way. I agree with a lot of the ladies look into New rules of lifting for women. I am about 8 weeks in and love it.

I agree. My husband is 5'9 and 210 and very muscular but according the charts he is obese. The scale is very evil!

Just echoing in. If you want to look toned and fit, you need resistance training and proper nutrition. Get into a good strength training routine and be patient.
