Fitbit usage set goal to BMR?

So... I got a Fitbit and have really enjoyed using it so far It seems to add any calculated calories burned from movement (which seems to be a lot!) and adds them to my MFP calorie alotment. So my question is, should I set my MFP goal to my estimated resting metabolic rate (BMR) so I can get a better view/control on my deficit?

If you know your Exact TDEE from your fitbit, just work out the average daily burn for the last 2/3 weeks and deduct 20%.
No need to do anything about BMR.0 -

I've been curious about this as well. I wasn't sure about how it would work with syncing up to mpf, and all that.
I told my husband that I want a fitbit for my birthday, and I think he's going to get me one!0 -
With mine, I didn't really set that up on the fitbit site. I use MFP for all of my calculations and just use my fitbit to track calories burned and sleep. i don't log anything on the fitbit site - I just use MFP and use the fitbit as a tool. Best of luck.0

i'm not sure i understand - so my fitbit average is 2050 and I want to lose 0.5 a week, so should i change my MFP goal to 1800?
If i still receive a fitbit adjustment, should i eat that too?0 -

I'd deduct 20%. Which gives you about 1650 daily.
Ignore the fitbit adjustment, but recheck the average on a fortnightly basis.
your FitBit is a much more accurate of your TDEE than any of the website calculators.0 -
Thank you, wow. 1650. Yum!0

My BMR is right around 1,350-1,400 cals a day, so I set my MFP to 1,300 and set my FitBit food plan for medium intensity which puts me at a -500 cals a day (this number usually hovers around my MFP goal of 1,300 cals). I never log anything on the FitBit Dashboard other than sleep. That's it! If you are going to sync it w/ MFP you need to log everything through MFP and your FitBit DB will automatically import all of the data for you. The FitBit will also automatically adjust your calorie goal on MFP depending on your activity level. MFP explains how to do it when you go to sync the two. I mainly use my FitBit to keep me on track as far as being more active. Walk so many steps, climb so many floors, travel so many miles, etc...
All in all, I think it is a fantastic purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a more realistic idea of how they do on a daily basis. I love mine!0 -

Thank You! I've adjusted my MFP goal to my BMR (1400 cals) and my exercise goal to 0 so that when FITBIT adds all the cals from movement (including my workouts) I will see a more accurate calorie goal.0
