That would be a lot for all one session, but if you can swing it, sure. Always do the strength training before the cardio. Doing that 3x's/week would probably get it (assuming you are eating well also).0

Depends on your lifting style. If you lift with loooong breaks like those dudes at the gym who play with their iphone more than lift, then yeah, an hour is fine.
I lift in super sets and incorporate my cardio when I'm in a hurry. I can get it all done (weights+cardio) in 45 mins and have an awesome workout.0 -
pending on your physical fitness level. To slim down you will need to do cardio. However to get stronger do some resistant traning or cross fit. You will burn calories while getting stronger. Interval traininh is another avenue you should look into.0

A well planned weight training schedule that is focused on the big lifts and progression coupled with a strict diet is far supior than wasting your life for 10 hours a week in th gym. No need to spend any longer than 45 mins a sesson in the gym in my opinion0

I do an hour of lifting and 20 minutes of intense cardio/conditioning 4 days a week. Pretty active on the weekend also. 2 hours in the gym just doesnt work for most people. It really depends on how intense your workouts are. If you are doing steady state cardio maybe you could try some HIIT or something.0

Here's the thing, you don't even need to lift weights to trim down. If you do full body movement workouts it's just as effective, if not more effective than weight lifting. Cardio will "trim" you out, if you have a clean diet. lifting will build/tone muscle, depending on how you lift.
Full body movement exercises will tone/trim you out, Case and point..

There really are not any rules. You just want to make sure you are not overdoing it and burning your self out. There are lots of people that just lift weight and dont do any cardio. I prefer to keep my heart and lungs in shape thats why I do the 20 minutes of cardio. I feel it helps me lift better and helps with recovery. A lot of lifters will tell you they are getting a good cardio workout while weight training. I just have not found that to be true. Sure it raises your heart rate but I really like to push myself by going 20 minutes as fast as I can.
Is your goal to burn calories or build muscle?0 -
That is just about what i do when i go to the gym. Sometimes the weight lifting might be less than an hour but similar. I had been doing cardio first then weight training since I started, I was recently told it was better if you ended with the cardio.0

i do the cardio first. *shrug* I like to be warmed up before I start lifting. On the days I didnt do cardio first I didnt notice any difference in the number of sets or reps.0 -

You should still warm up before lifting, though, right? I read that going in cold can make it easier to injure yourself.
LOL but I am absolutely not an expert.0 -

Not really possible to do both at the same time. Beginners can build a little muscle while loosing fat but only for the first couple of weeks but its not something that can be continued. To loose fat you need to be in a caloric deficit to gain muscle you need to be in a surplus. Cant do both at the same time.0
