At the gym today there was an ad in my entertainment magazine for Vitamin Water 10.

I glanced at it and saw that under the title for the product in (....) was the phrase:

" (because the couch and tv are here to stay)"

UGHHH! Its like encouraging people to drink low calorie drinks so they can be couch potatoes!! I thought it was ridiculous. What does everyone else think?

That's terrible!!! Trying to be healthy is definitely working against the grain in this country.

Ads like that will never get people healthy. What also annoying is that people think drinking gatorade and vitamin water is GOOD for them. People at my work who won't even take the stairs (one flight!!!) go and get gatorade from the vending machine and think they are being healthy. I know those drinks are good for some people, especially those who lose a lot of electrolites through exercise, but 95% of the time (or more) that is not the case.

That is pretty horrifying. It's essentally telling people to sit on their @$$ and drink a bunch of tasty chemicals so they'll be healthier.:frown:

It's sad but many Americans do not know what is healthy and what is not. They fall for gimmick marketing by companies claiming that bars filled with sugar and HFCS are "healthy" when they are not, they are just sugar and chemicals. And that if something is "low fat" or "low carb" that means it's healthy. The thinking on this has gotten so twisted!

It's a constant battle trying to be more convincing than the media to my children. Their young (very) impressionable little brains seem to believe every word of what they see on t.v. or hear on the radio etc. It's no wonder so many kids are over weight. It's in their faces all the time. Even the concession stands at Little League are a "healthy moms" nightmare. They all want the purple powerade! Ugh.

It's a mind game. I know you're lazy and don't want to change that, so drink this water and feel better.
