need advice on 90's fashion!

Hi everyone, some friends and I are throwing a make-shift prom for a friend who never had one. One of the requirements is to dress up like a 90's prom. I'm not exactly sure where to start. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

    GRUNGE! Think kurt cobain, grunge was big huge (band shirt under a plaid flannel top and ripped jeans)

    In the 90's, people wore a lot of satin to prom. Dresses were satin. Early 90's had neon colors and more of a cupcake style, late 90's was more ballgown type with red being popular (dramatic colors). Hope this helps
