Fell Off! Back on again. Lunch Ideas?

Well, I had a good January and February but (here come the excuses) I went on holiday in March and went back to old habits. I am restarting again today with grapes for snacks instead of chocolate bars and water instead of cups of tea. Unfortunately I didn't have time to make lunch before work so I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for lunch. I’m in a city centre in the UK so there are a good few shops. I was thinking something like a Boots meal deal, but I don’t actually know how healthy they are!

    Why can't you make your meals on a Sunday? When I was working full-time (10 hours a day) I would take an hour every Sunday to throw together 1-2 lunches for the week. Failing that, if you have an Eat. near you, they have some soups/salads/sandwiches that might work for you. They list calories on everything, which is helpful.

    Yeah, I think the Boots Shapers stuff is pretty low cal, though I've never tried it. I make a packed lunch 95% of the time I'd say, but my shop sandwich of choice is M&S ham with mustard mayonnaise, cheap and low cal - that with an apple or a banana and you're good to go I'd say :happy:

    :smile: you can make any meal healthy just be careful of your choice. Where ever you choose to go just check the calories :) or indeed make your own luch

    Its fine to grab a sarnie on the run but I dont think they fill you up and loaded with cals for a small meal.

    I would make myself a big batch of pasta to last me a few days. add a few handfuls of cooked wholemeal pasta to chicken or tuna whatever you like. add tomatoes and cucumber and spring onions and make myself a big box full of veggies and salad mix a bit of sweet chilli sauce or low fat dressing in and thats much nicer for lunch experiment with flavors and diff ingredients. Go light on the pasta and bulk with the veg and salad avoid mayo.. add lemon juice and seasoning instead . I save a bit for mid afternoon when i do it then im full till I get home :O) xxx

    Boots do this range of organic veggie sandwiches, some of which are very interesting, and they are all low calorie, and very natural. unlike many of the Shapers range. They come in green packages and I would personally go for one of these. They include the skinny minnie, which is a mix of tuna, hummous and salad stuffs.

    I usually make my lunch, but now and then I will buy something (I'm in the UK too)

    M&S do some great low-cal items - I especially like the thai wraps that have no bread. From Tesco, I like the chilli chicken noodle salad. They also do small taster size packs of meat - I often buy those and use to top a couple of rice cakes or ryvita.

    A snack pack of sushi is a good option - add a piece of fruit or a stick of cheese.

    This is great. I do similar things, but I get very bored with food, so I make chilli, burritos, roasted veggies, salads (Wensleydale with cranberry + smoked almonds will make ANY salad taste nice) satay sauce on veggies and noodles, etc... just enter it into the MFP recipe calculator as you're cooking and you can figure out how many portions it will make, depending on how many calories you want your lunch to have. Then you can portion it out, freeze or put in the fridge and grab and go before work. I even did this with breakfast for a while, making and freezing eggy bread or egg burritos.

    Thanks all!

    I do normally cook in advance for lunch but I'm currently in the middle of moving houses so didn't have time to last night, will have a look around and see if I can find any of the options suggested!

    i work in a supermarket, n when i haven't made my own, i go get a pre-made box of salad, (just leaves, not the ones with cheese n pasta ect) from the fruit n veg aisle, then i use either bernard matthews turkey chunks or something similar in the cold meats section, then i either buy some nuts to go in it or some fresh fruit for afterwards! so yummy and is a healthier version, than most of the pre made salads.

    perhaps look at the john west tuna salad things??? ive never had one but i think its mostly tuna and chopped veg??

    M&S do loads of low calorie stuff that keeps you full. I like their jerk chicken flatbreads, which only have about 300 calories!
