And it gave me 2647 calories for basically doing nothing. Which seems about right since I am eating a 400 calorie deficit. Although this doesn't take into account my activity for when i do go to the gym and do stuff. So i think i might be undereating a tad? wow i don't believe this. If you have a really good HRM i suggest wearing it for a day (preferably not in the shower) and see how many calories it gives you.

I was actually thinking about doing that just this morning. I was sitting here wondering what it would come out to if I did wear it all day long. Hmmmmmm.0

Not entirely sure, but I don't think that a HRM is accurate when wearing it all day - only during exercise0

It will record heart rate regardless of the activity you are doing. If you use it just for exercise calories, it is a gross number, not net. Subract what you would have burned during that time just from daily living and you have your number.0

If you want to know what you burn on a daily basis,get a Bodybugg or Body media fit...which are meant to be worn all day.0 -
I own a bodybugg an have stopped using it because it becomes irrating to the arm after a while and left a sore on my arm. However, it does keep accurate count of calories burn. I am looking for something that does not have to be attached to my skin now and doesn't cost a fortune. Any ideas out there?0

Fitbit. Amazon.com has them for $88 cdn....so probably cheaper for the US. I know in the US they have them at Best Buy and other stores. Best little dude I ever bought, lol.0 -
My hrm is a suunto that cost me $162. It is dead on accurate and doesn't even jump up or down once. This is a pretty accurate number of my bmr. However i think it doesn't take into account how much muscle the body has and I know muscle burns calories.0

I experimented with wearing my HRM for 3 days in a row and seeing the numbers before committing to buying a FitBit. I found it helpful to see my daily activity though the FitBit gives me a little more detailed information than just HR and cal burn.0

I would not trust and all-day count from an HRM, the formulas they use to calculate are supposedly only fairly accurate during exercise where your heart rate is elevated. I agree with others, if you're looking for an all-day device, check into BodyMedia, BodyBugg, or FitBit. Those devices are designed more for regular daily activities.0

You have to activate the fitbit on the fitbit site. If you go up to the top right of mfp, click tools, there is info about fitbit, and how you can sync with mfp so you only have to log your food and exercise on here instead of fitbit. You get a usb base to use on your comp to charge it and if your comp is on, the fitbit will automatically update your info if you're within 15 feet of the base. I really like the sleep feature.......it's like a timer when you press the button down on the fitbit and it records while you sleep. you can learn all about it at fitbit.com. It's addictive, lol, and all the info is really interesting that you learn during the day........0
