"While the contents of the sundae could not be confirmed, it looks like a vanilla ice-cream sundae topped with chocolate and caramel syrups and sprinkled with bacon."

I don't think I'm ok with this.

Thoughts??

I LOVE bacon; but why is everyone trying to mix it with ice cream?!?!? That does not compute...

I think I'd try bacon ice cream. But this is just regular ice cream with bacon on it... nah. Doesn't sound appealing.

But I'm not crazy for bacon. It's good, as bacon. It's nice in most sandwiches. I like it crumbled on a salad. But that's where it ends for me.

In 13 years together, my husband and I have *never* owned a package of bacon. Don't get me wrong....obviously we have eaten ALLLLLL kinds of decadent foods...obvs, or I wouldn't have had 83 lbs to lose, I'm not bragging. We just aren't big bacon lovers.

I get it. Salt + sweet + fat. Bacon dipped in chocolate, maple bacon, candied bacon, etc. Bacon is quite in. I'm seeing more jars of baconaisse at the stores now. But, I wouldn't trust fast food bacon sundaes to contain real bacon. Probably some hydrogenated corn by-product with bacon "flavoring". If I'm going to have a bacon sundae, I'll make my own.

American style bacon is really good in ice cream and on chocolate cupcakes as long as it's been cooked very crisp first and crumbled into it. Same with chocolate covered bacon. Has to be very crispy bacon to work. Canadian style or UK/European style bacon would not be very good in it because it's not cooked enough.

Best dessert I ever had was a Squash nepolean with Bacon at Vetri (Phila.)

At the same time I do not think I will be ordering a bacon Sunday from Burger King...

I haven't been to a BK in years.

I think it was the time I saw the calorie info on the Whopper that did it for me.

If all that was served were things topped with bacon, lets just say I'd find a lot fewer things palatable. Yuck!

Yeah, I'd try it! I actually bought a bacon spread today. It's a slightly sweet spread made with real bacon...I'll probably spread a little on sandwiches.

Someone mentioned Baconnaise...I was thrilled by the idea of it, but it tasted awful to me! Fortunately, the company that makes it practices awesome customer service and sent me a replacement product of my choice...I got Malt Salt, which is malt vinegar flavored salt. Talk about yummy! Sorry for digressing...lol
  • But did it taste good? :D
