Just wondering if there are many out there who travel a lot with work and what tricks they do to keep the calories in line while travelling..especially doing day trips when you are on the red eye out and the last flight home...finding food thats low cal in the cafes is so hard, they drown the salads and wraps in dressing and i struggle to get any exercise in while im out....any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I travel alot for work and I always try to stay at a Marriott Residence Inn. Most of their rooms have a full-sized frig, microwave, 2-burner stove, and a fully furnished kitchenette. You can leave a shopping list with the front desk or fax it ahead of time and they will do your shopping, deliver it, and put it away. If I have favorites that I may not be able to find in a particular area, I ship them ahead of time. They also have grills in their courtyards for their guests. I always try to plan ahead, search the restaurants in the area, most of them have menus viewable online along with nutritional information. Good Luck0

If most of your travelling is like this, then I would suggest packing your meals beforehand and taking them with you. I've found most places in the airport will let you use the microwave to heat stuff up if you ask nicely and explain you are on a restricted diet. I sometimes (very rarely) have to buy something from them before they will agree to my request, but a bottle of water and some fruit is a small price to pay0

One of the things I do is buy the usual sandwich, remove one slice of bread from each of the sandwiches and stick the remaining bits together, this way you increase the filling but not eat all the bread! I pack some little bags of nuts and seeds that I pack into daily allowances. Try to keep your protein levels up and go for plain cooked meat.
Oh it's a glamorous life working away!0 -

I love that idea with the sandwich - never thought of that but so simple! definately going to do that one.I do take muesli bars with me, but we cant take fruit interstate here in australia or the sniffer dogs get you at the aiport - got caught with that before - lol!!! i think nuts and seeds would be ok though.
I need more willpower saying no to the plane and club lounge free food and alcohol!!!0
