Grouchy = Diet Failure OR....

I'm newer to this lifestyle and wondering why I'm so dang grouchy this week...is there something wrong with my diet (its public) or is it hormones?? Or both? Or something else? I'm driving me and my family crazy... Usually a good workout will get rid of any grumpy mood but it's not working.
I ask about diet because I read that if you aren't eating enough calories or the right macro percents it may make you grouchy.

Could be a lot of things. Sometimes we have trouble letting go of the emotional attachment to food. Can't just pick up a bag of chips when we are bored, anymore.
Then again, maybe you aren't eating enough. Are you tired?0 -

No advice, just wanted to let you know you are not alone! I am SUPER cranky the last 2 days and I have no idea why.0

It really could be a lot of factors then just one. it is really hard to pinpoint. experiment a little try upping your calories see if it changes your moods, if that doesn't work try something else until you find what is best for you. hormones can play a part in that also.0

I would say that you may have better luck with adding a little more protein to your diet. I notice that this site puts protein pretty low especially if you work out. I would also check your BMR under tools and make sure you are netting no lower than that.0

I read this article and it made a lot of sense. Not having enough carbs may be the culprit. I just increased my protein last week per my trainer but have been restricting carbs like pasta, white rice, and bread. I am for certain a carb craver. I might have to rethink my diet0 -
I've been feeling pretty great--have been staying on track since July 7th (OK, just beginning) but today I am SO Cranky and glad that others are saying that that might be a typical side effect of dieting. Thanks for normalizing (that's a good thing) this for me.0

Maybe withdrawal to foods you've recently stopped eating? I know I used to eat a lot more sugar, and now that I switched to smarter carbs I feel great but it was tough for a week or so Keep it up! Grouchy today, stronger/fitter tomorrow!0

I know how you feel. When you first transition into this lifestyle you feel so deprived. I think that is normal and we need to accept that despite how tough it is. That leads to grounchyness because you're simply not used to eating how you are now. Be patient and it will subside and you'll start to feel better.0

When you say "smart carbs" I think you mean whole food carbs--and I have been avoiding (for the most part) white flour and white rice and white pasta. Use whole grain bread, brown rice and the barilla plus pasta, but starting out have not had pasta or rice at all. Are you also meaning vegetables? I think of bananas as a carb because think the prob with carbs is that they change to sugar fast. Well, just at the beginning and still feeling deprived (mostly of calories in any form). Still need to figure out a bigger range of foods that's going to work. Used to the ww "free" foods (vegis) so that is an adjustment.0
