Front squats and push press without killing myself?

All jokes aside for the push press I'm deathly afraid of holding the barbell/weights above my head. Is there anyway to drop the weight back to your shoulder should you fail on a rep or say your arms give out?

Front squat... I'm afraid of losing my balance and totally eating it. Also holding the barbell with the tips of my fingers? I have read, watched, and seen a lot of instructions on how to do this properly. I'm being kinda chicken-ey to try it.

Any advice VERY appreciated! <3

Dont do push presses if you lack the confidence.
    You will hurt yourself.

Just do military presses instead and call it a day.

I want to do it. I know I can do it. But I want to do it correctly, AND I want to know that should I fail (say on the last few reps) I won't suffer some Unnecessary injury.

Front squats you form a rack with the front of your arms and your finger tips are just sort of there to keep it rolling.
I personally tried front squats and couldn't get the knack, I folded my arms indian style (american indian) and
that seemed to work, but was probably wrong =P.

I never thought to do that! They feel awkward to me do I wonder if that would make it feel less weird... Hmm

practice with a broomstick until you get comfy with the movement. it wont be exactly the same since you wont need to engage too much of your hips or any other power to get the stick up, but at least you'll start to get familiar with the move.

i did that with this movement and the 1 arm DB snatch before even attempting it in the gym.
