Losing weight while weight training? For women?

Hey guys.
I feel like I have a lot of questions, today. Lol.
I have started weight training 3x a week for about a month now, and it is causing me to gain weight. (though I have lost a pant size, woohoo!)
I have heard that this is normal, however, can anyone tell me how long I should continue to gain? Or if I'm possibly doing something wrong?

I don't know but I am in the same place. I have gained about 2 pounds but went down a pant size, so I'm not complaining!0

I am glad you're doing the same thing. I have always been concerned with the scale and eating healthy and exercising (in my mind) should make me lose weight. Is it okay if I follow you since you have similar results as I do?0

Keep going, don't be scared it will go away :-)
When I first started weight training I gained 10lbs (gasp!!) but dropped inches like mad. After a few weeks those extra lbs came off and more. It'll happen!!0 -

Thank the lord!
I'm so happy to hear it. By the looks of your ticker, you've done really well0 -
If you are losing pant sizes then you are doing nothing wrong. Some people gain, some people lose in the end the inches are what matters:)0

Step away from the scale! (Or at least, if you MUST, once a week it.)
People don't see a number over your head. They see a stronger you.0 -
You might maintain 2-3 extra pounds of water pretty much permanently. I seem to until I take a week or two off lifting, then I lose it, then gain it back when I start lifting again.
Really the scale doesn't matter. What you feel and what you see in the mirror is what is important. I gained 10lbs over the winter by lifting and eat a LOT. I looked better than I did before I gained it.0 -
What everyone else said. Step away from the scale....... and measure yourself on a regular basis.
Your muscles will retain water, sure, what I still can't believe is that I weigh as much as I do yet a size down in jeans and still have to pin the waist. And I don't think Express reduced their vanity sizing again.
If I were 135 over a year ago, before I started lifting, I'd be muffin-topping over my size 4 jeans and would be comfortable in a medium top. Small would show my tummy pouch. I'm 135 now and wear size 2 jeans and am perfectly comfortable in small tops with plenty of room... except my arms as they fit the sleeves snugly.
LIFT those heavy weights my dear and don't worry about the numbers underneath your toes. All you need to worry about is measurements, not weight.0 -

Thank you. All of your advice is very comforting.0
