Wiping down machines at the gym

Ok- so I was only at the gym today for about an hour & a half. I noticed 4 different people get their sweaty selves off of their machine and walk right out the door. I don't understand! It certainly can't be because they are too lazy since they are AT THE GYM- so seriously, what gives?!

Are others aware that it's socially inappropriate to get off a machine after you've sweated all over it (or even just used it) and not wipe it down with the sanitizing wipes provided? It drives me nuts-o!

thoughts?!

Sometimes the stains on the head rests make me spray the machines off before i use them.

It is gross and at my gym if they see you just walk away without a wipe down, the staff will call you on it and politely educate you to the process. I mean they have these cleaning stations all over the place, why can't people just use them? :grumble:

When I exercise at school, everyone is really great about wiping down their machines. But at my rec center when I workout that's a completely different story! I think I am the only one who wipes machines down. I normally wipe the machine down before and after. Normally I go in the middle of the day and there's maybe 2 other people there at the same time, so I just carry the spray bottle close to my spot. But if I go at night I walk up to it after every machine and spray a paper towel and bring that with me. I try not to go at night.. it's so packed. One night I saw a guy simply lay down some paper towels on a bench, get his sweaty ness all over the place and just threw the paper towels away. No spray. It does irritate me, but I try not to get bothered by it, I just make sure I clean it before and after my use.

Ya- I always wipe my machine down BEFORE and AFTER I use it. Perhaps people think that those 'cleaning stations' are only for decoration:huh:
