After I had my second child, I knew or at least knew as much as the next person knows; that having more children is not likely. So, it was time to lose the extra pounds. I did really well and looking back, I think I did well because I was terrified of failing or honestly (and dont tell anyone I said this) I was afraid my husband would get in shape and I wouldn't. Little did I know it was the other way around when all was said and done lol. However time past and my life did a 180 in just about every aspect. As a result I put about 25lbs back on, and 25lbs when you have tasted thin, feels like 100lbs. For the past year off and on I have taunted the scale. I feel as though I am losing the battle though. I cannot say I yoyo diet because its not diets its just spells of eating healthy and then spells of eating horrible amounts of sugar.

It dawned on me, that what I need to succeed again, is that fear. I hate to say it, but it motivates me. Now, in the past I know that once you hit that moment, about a month or so in to a good routine, you no longer need such motivation because the results you see far outweigh the motivation I need.

So, I researched 5k's. I am not a runner, never have been. When I lost weight before it was muscle, it was a low calorie diet with some exercising which didn't come until later after most the weight was off. Did I mention I am getting older and noticing loss of natural tone.

It comes down to this, I can do it. Sure I can. I found a wonderful walk to run training program and have a little under 3 months to prepare. I am not drastically overweight to where its unrealistic. My idea is to tell the world, tell everyone I know that I am doing it! SO to fail would be completely embarrassing.

I need support groups, I need help and ideas from the world of runners. Shoes I should get, Sports bras that support a larger bust (I dont want to knock myself out) any info is appreciated. I start Monday 4/16

You said you've already got a walk-to-run programme, but if you need more input here's the mother lode of C25K info:

Add mileage and speed slowly.... And expect your weight to not go down. It takes about a month for your body to adjust to a new exercise routine. Accept the fact that you wont lose weight for a month. Ultimately though, once your body adjusts, the weight will fly off. If you accept that fact now, it really helps you when you feel discouraged. It takes 2 or 3 weeks to get a routine going. Make every work out an appointment that you cant miss. Good luck!

I am content with not immediately losing weight because feeling better than I feel now, and losing bloat really helps with the motivation factor. I dont need to lose soooo much that not losing for a while will discourage me.

I'm training for my first 5k too! My race is on 5/6, yikes! I'm in week 7 of C25k, and struggling! I'm off to a good running store to get fitted for proper shoes this weekend.

I just love running now. It feels so freeing! Wish I had long enough hair to have a ponytail streaming behind me... LOL. I hope you learn to love running too, if you don't already!

And a sports bra! OMG! I nearly forgot. Enell sports bra. The one Oprah recommended. Worth every penny. I no longer knock myself out when running! I literally couldn't run before this bra. I had top of the line underarmor, nike, addidas and champion before, and none worked as well as my Enells!

I second the Couch to 5k program--it's awesome! Go get fitted for good running shoes. They should be a little big so your toes have plenty of room and aren't getting pushed into the front of your shoes.

Thats a good attitude. I mentioned it as starting to run is VERY hard. People expect for how hard it is that their weight should move... when it doesn't they have a tendency to get discouraged and give up.

That is very true. I have a friend who started running and didn't lose anything for a month. She was starting to get discouraged but then right after a month started dropping...I am not really running to solely lose weight...
