Resistance Bands and Dumbbells

Hey, I am currently doing P90X and I have gotten to the point in this program where the dumbbells I currently have (2 ten-pound dumbbells) and resistance band (it is a blue one called a Power Resistance Tube from Gold's Gym that I got at Wal-Mart) where they are no longer providing enough resistance (the arm workouts are feeling a little easier and my arms are not as sore). I would like to get two dumbbells of at least 20 lbs. each and better resistance bands. Is there any that anyone can recommend to me (also my budget is about $50)?

Walmart has adjustable dumbbell sets for under $50. Get a base set and you can add on heavier plates later.
I'm considering this set: http://www.walmart.com/ip/CAP-Barbell-40-lb.-Adjustable-Cast-Iron-Dumbbell-Set/172172170 -
I use standard dumbbells and plates that I can load on more or take off weight, instead of buying dozens of dumbbells. In the P90X program the dumbbells I used ranged from 15lbs up to 60, and I don't have the funds to buy 2 of each for every weight.
A set such as this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cap-Barbell-RSWB-40TP/11089974, and you can buy more plates to add when needed. The ones I have are almost identical to these (spin lock collars) and they work pretty well, just have to tighten them between sets.
Make sure the bars are metal as opposed to the plastic ones (like the first reply linked to) as they will not hold a lot of weight.0 -

I know I just realized lol I have never ordered anything from Walmart online, silly me Any suggestions for resistance bands?0

My resistance bands came in a pack of 3 ...all 3 are different resistance so I can decide which one to use for each exercise. It also came in a little travel pouch.0

Do you know what the name of the resistance bands are?0

I have done P-90X and currently doing Insanity, but I only use them for cardio, I would suggest lifting 4 days per week and doing P-90X 3 days per week. I just saw a Cap 40 lb. adjustable dumbbell set for $30.00 at walmart last night. Then you can add more plates as needed. I would also pick up an exercise ball for $10.00 at walmart as well.0

I am ordering them today (erickirb mentioned these dumbbells earlier in the post). I also have a Gold's Gym Body Ball, is that the type of exercise ball you meant?0

I am glad you are upping your weights since I am planning on using my 10lb dumbbells and resistance bands to start P90x and I'm a girl.0

You can look on Craigslist for weights, depending where you live you might be surprised at what you can find ) I was really lucky and got 116 pounds of weights and a straight bar for $15 in my town! There are some cheap benches too......
I also got a couple of dumbbells at the thrift store )
just a thought and good luck )0 -

So what types of exercises should I be doing with the exercise ball then (P90x doesn't have any videos that require the exercise ball)?0

I picked up some B-LIne resistance bands, good quality. You can also add one band at a time depending on how much resistance you want. Then later on get a handle with the three slots to use multiple bands -AND BRING IT!
P90X2 uses med and stability balls, not so much in P90X. You could still use it to add in some core work on your own (Plank crunches, leg lifts, push ups on the stability ball). do an online search theres bound to be some free material you can use.0 -
Oh okay, thanks for the advice!0
