I was in the gym a few months back and the trainer employed by the gym remarked to a client...."i cant be fat I am a personal trainer" gosh thats not nice to say when you are training a client and also when thats my dream and you just pissed on my parade.... I wanted to compete in fitness comps, but I have excess skin from my initial 100 pound weight loss......

Well i have two thoughts about that. One, it is important to represent health as a trainer and so being a trainer I hold myself to a certain standard. I must always be putting forth and effort to better myself and live a healthy life.

However...trainers are humans, and even the healthiest humans have their ups and downs. I went through a year and a half of very hard health problems. My weight fluctuated, i lost muscle and I wasnt in as good as shape as I "should" be. But my clients appreciated that I always did my best and never talked down about myself. My clients appreciate that I am a human...not a robot...and I was in the best shape i could be in for that period of my life.

So...anyway, all im saying is...being a fitness trainer is about teaching people how to be healthy and treat your body well...its not about teaching people to be perfect, demanding and intolerant of anything less than perfection.
  • well I can say this.....she does not look like a trainer and she should not make those comments. I can out lift her daily and she knows that and admits it. I dont know how she got certified. She is flabby and I have watched her work out....its pitiful. Maybe where she got her cert. does not require much out of the person. I have watched her train and its not all that great.....it makes me wonder if she really has certification.

Oh well......I do have a question for you as this is a great debate in two gyms I worked out in and as well as with some gym rats I know.....

cardio before or after weight training?????? I was trained to do it before weights....so as to raise my heart rate and keep it up.....

    pls advise

What a GREAT debate. I often discuss this with my fellow trainers.

Im on this cardio throughout the workout kick right now.

Keeping your heart rate up will burn more calories....so i figure short bursts of VERY intense cardio throughout the entire workout may have a great effect on fat burn.

So for example, right now I start my workout with a brisk 3 min walk just to warm up. I then sprint on the treadmill for 6 min and then run at a steady pace for 4 min. Then I go to half of my weight training for that day. Then I get on the elliptical and keep it at a very fast pace for another 10 min, increasing the resistance every 2 min. Then i go finish my weight training. I finish with another 10 min of cardio and my cool down. Stretch, roll out any knots, drink my post workout shake and off to the shower :)

We'll see what kind of result my new workout has for me :)
  • good grief.....

I have the one trainer (with the remark) saying cardio after weights to lower heart rate. Ummmm last I knew when I do cardio my heart rate is up unless I am walking at 1 mph.

My trainer I had last year and my spin instructor both say cardio before.

I wish I could run. Do you suggest trying it in the privacy of my own home on the treadmill before trying outdoors?? I feel very un coordinated....and my fat bounces and my new boobs....which I need super duty support as I am not wanting to effect their perk!!! lol thought about wrapping ace bandages around my bust to keep them very very still.

I wish I could afford a trainer again, but too costly for me. So I am referring to my books and trying it on my own and watching others in the gym.

    have a good day

Wat do they do if you c an't pay for them, take them back? Just joking. I didn't realize it was that much. How painful was it? My mother in law has had both done. I think when I reach my goal I would like to still be a D or maybe move up to a DD. What made you go to DDD? Do you have a close up picture.

    You can do this :flowerforyou:
  • DDD is really not that big, its just really full. I have always been huge anyhow and I guess to avoid a major reduction we went with a fuller implant, they are silicone and I was medically approved for silicone as it was considered re-constructive. Silicone was not available for cosmestic reasons due to more research when they went off the market years back but in 2007 they got re-approved by the FDA and were avail for everyone not just medical necessity.

Did it hurt,......I have a high tolerance to pain, so no. I had them re-lifted in Nov of 08 and I was awake during that procedure, once they settled and healed they were lower than we wanted so he lifted them in office, I was on valium and lortab. Took a couple hours and I was home.

If you saw my DDD's you would not know they are that size or fake or silicone. They bounce when I move they are not stripper boobs where they are round at the top as they are under my muscle.. I can wear medium sized tops unless it is way fitted or a bathing suit top then I go xl.
