about two weeks ago i upped my calories from 1450 to 1690 for a 1 lb weight loss per week. i felt that 1450 wasnt enough. and i was hungry all the time. now that i upped my weight Im still not losing any weight. its stayed the same.
i zumba 2x a wk on the weekends and now that its nicer out im going to go on walks 3x a week to start after work each day about 45 min or so. hopefully that will help.
but i want advice as to why im not losing...i stay with in my calorie goal. but its hard because i cant cook 2 separate meals on my budget and my bf whom i live with is sorta picky tho i try to make healthy choices. last week i had my period, and i tend to be hungrier when im on that and also crave chocolate. but i really thought after it was over i'd a few pounds so im disappointed. my diary is open. thanks in advance

How's the sodium? I'm seeing some areas of potential sodium overload. Not terrible in and of itself, but it can cause excess water retention.0

I read your profile and you stated you had WLS 3 years ago. Then I looked at your diary and first off - your carbs are way too high. I don't know if you recall from going through the education process that we need our protein higher. Increase your veggies and then followed with fruits. Leave the processed carbs for last and limited - get your carbs from natural foods first. I had the same issue and have been where you are - I am still trying to lose 20 lbs and I had my surgery over 5 years ago. Add me as a friend if you would like.
Also, I make multiple meals at my house with 2 kids and my family is not big on fruits and veggies so I modify how I cook a little bit and make sure it is still healthy in different ways for each of us. It takes a little bit of extra time, but once you get rolling in making larger portions for leftovers it is really not that hard.0 -
Hey!
Just had a look at your diet and some suggestions I would make is to almost go back down to 1400 calories. But to eat lower calorie stuff! So I would start by cutting out any drinks (hot chocolate, ice tea, chocolate milk etc) that are high calories, I call these empty calories as a drink won't fill you up or give you nutrition. Secondly I would introduce more fruit and veggies in your diet, it is amazing how many peices of broccoli you can eat for the same amount of calories as a cookie. Also upping your protien is a good way to stay full, chicken is great for lean protien. Also veggies are super cheap!!! Another way to get more food for your calories is to cut out processed food... Instead of eating the cafeteria lunch pack a salad and small can of tuna, much less calories and much better for you!!! I am a firm believer in it is not just the amount of calories you eat but also that it is what you are eating. This is not to say a little cheat here or there is the end of the world, but I personally try to eat clean. I find sprouted grain bread much more filling than your average brown bread as well! I hope some of these little tid bits help! And remember each person is different this is what works for me but it might not work for you.0 -
thanks everyone for the great suggestions0

What is your height, weight, and bmr? I am your age, 5'3.5" and 142 lbs. the calorie amounts you are talking about are at bmr for me, so if you are around my size, you are prob eating too much. Were those numbers net or actual eaten? If that is the number mfp gave you for 1 lb per week, I would guess that if you've been dieting for a while your metabolism is slower than an average person your age and size, in which case you need to eat less. On the other hand, maybe your body is just used to what you are doing. Change up your work outs and maybe try zig zagging cals. Good luck!0

Most of your calories are pretzel (180), garnola bar (200), cookies (220), etc... all useless calories. I think that's why you are hungry..
Try more fruits, veggies and home made food to make you feel full and to get the necessary nutrients.
Give yourself a little more time...0 -
In your food diary, look at the total grams of carbs and protein you eat per day. Swap them.0
