    Well the rates went up since i was a kid. I'd say a tooth is worth at least 100 bucks.

    One of my neighbors ruined the curve with a friggin $20!!!! I say no more than $5 for the first one...we gave $2 in quarters

    My cousin lost his first tooth a few nights ago. Got £2 for it. The next morning, he walked up to his mum, laptop in hand and said "I've been looking on Google to see how much the Tooth Fairy should leave, and there are some people who get £10 when they lose a tooth..."

    I give them $1, but they wind up getting $.83. I am required by law to withhold income tax. So, I withhold 17%. It should be higher since it's really more like "bonus" money, but I put it under income, so it gets a lower tax rate. My kids appreciate it.

    We gave $1, but that was 6-7 years ago. We also gave them personalized letters from their own tooth fairy (each kid had a different one), which they really liked

    In Canada, the TF bring a toonie ($2 coin), or two loonies (2 $1 coins). My daughter liked it better when she got 2 coins (even though the value is the same), so next time I may ask TF to bring quarters or better yet, pennies! :laugh:

    Around 20 years ago, I would get 1 quarter (25 CENTS) per tooth with the occasional extra quarter. I never got more than 50 cents for a tooth though. People give their kids 5+ dollars??

    We did $3 for the first tooth and a $1 for the second tooth. My son told me to tell the tooth fairy that next time he wants a quarter. To say the least, his bargaining skills are poor.

    This is kinda what I'm thinking. I mean, I was poor, sure. But it's not like they WORK to lose the suckers. It'll happen even if you don't pay them.

    You could give him 4 quarters! I had a small little "tooth container" that was really an old eyeshadow container with a clear cover (cleaned out of course) of my mothers that they always put the money in.
