I guess I don't really know what to say introduction wise. I love video games and cats. Game of Thrones is a pretty sweet TV show, second only to The Wire. I do photography and graphic design. It's pretty cold in my room right now, but I prefer the cold.
Really, though, this website rules. I've been needing something like this for a food journal. I went back and plugged in my start weight/date despite it being a month ago and, despite the fact the progress graph is a little silly looking, things are going swell. I'm not the example of health and fitness, but as far as weight loss is concerned, I'm happy.
I have a lot of motivation and willpower problems, so I'm starting off easy. If I exercised every day, I just know I'd give up. I recognize that it's optimal to go from "Fat and out of shape" directly to "Skinny and in shape" with a proper lifestyle, but that's too strenuous on both my mind and body to consider.
Right now, my goal is to go from "Fat and out of shape" to "Skinny and out of shape." Hopefully that'll give me the confidence boost I need to get in to shape proper.
So hi.
edit: Oh, and I'm kinda shaped like a football linebacker, people say. Everyone says I look 220 even though I'm 283. Can't wait to see what I look like when I'm actually 220 (my current goal.)

Good morning and welcome!! I joined MFP about a year ago, my effort (ok heart mind soul and everything else lol) wasn't in it so I slipped through the cracks. I'm back now and I've been plugging away for about 2/3 weeks and have managed to lose 7.8 lbs so far. I'm 49 married. I'm out of shape and a smoker (trying to quit while dieting, yeah i'm insane). I've learned to take one day at a time. That's my philosophy. You sound like you have things together. And that's all you need to get started Feel free to friend me if you are looking for friends. Just saw your post and wanted to say hi!0

Hey thanks Something you may consider, but I smoked electronic cigarettes for a while and loved them. The initial investment is a little crappy, but in the long run (shorter if you smoke a lot) they are way cheaper, and also better for you (that is to say, "less bad for you" but still unhealthy.)
Might be worth a try, or at least a step in the right direction towards weening off smoking. I don't use them anymore, but "Blucigs" was the brand I used if you wanted to research it a little, see how you feel about it etc.0 -
I have seriously considered doing that. Right now I'm timing myself, allowing myself one every 30 minutes. Been doing that for about a week now. Monday I'm going to up it to 45 minutes or an hour. I did this one before, many moons ago, and almost quit completely. I was up to about 2 packs a day, so starting at every 30 was a biggy for me. Was so used to lighting up whenever. More out of habit than want I believe. I'm just tired of smoking. Do you know anyone that uses Chantix? Thinking of asking my doc for that. Have heard of a lot of good results with that. Thanks for the info too!!!0

I'm sad to say that I don't know what Chantix is My experience with electronic cigarettes came from peer pressure to fit in with my e-cig smoking friends- I wasn't really a smoker before that. Sounds ridiculous, I know, but it is what it is.
Anything that helps is probably worth a try, though! Generally speaking, I hear that cigarette control is mostly a matter of discipline, patience and willpower. If a drug will help curb any of those, I imagine it would help! Good luck0 -

I used Champix (UK version of Chantix) because I went from 20+ cigarettes down to around 5 a day by myself but couldn't kick it completely (my will-power is practically non-existant). I gradually went from 5 to none in about 10 days. I haven't had one since, and that was mid-Feb. Hope this helps.0 -
It does thanks0
