I just wanted to put this out there and ask what way do you handle stress. I have had a bad week and we all do but one of the days I just wanted to eat all day to fill that empty spot. I didn't but still didn't know what to do with that feeling. I worked out that day. and just pushed threw... but wondering if there is a way to nip it in the butt so I don't feel that way all day. because who like to feel bad?? yea No ONE!!!

I will watch this thread for an answer

I know what you mean I sometimes get so stressed from the time I get up (it's hard ot to with 3 kids under 4) and it's really hard to focus on my day and what I need to do in general when all's I want to do sometimes is veg on the couch have no kids to look after and eat crap BUT I do just push through and mostly end up feeling somewhat ok once I have done my exercise.

I always tell my kids to do pushups. I have never taken my own advise!

Stress lands me at the gym or walking in front of the tv while I watch dvds or my favorite tv shows. there are so many more things then eating to do. If its a nice day you could take a long walk outside with a good friend and talk about what is bothering you or take the kids out to the park.

First of all congrats on your incredible weight loss!!! You inspire me!!!

I know that feeling when you just want to grab a bag of Doritos...but it's awesome that you didn't!

When I'm stressed and want to eat sometimes a good workout will help, or I write a blog or journal, I talk about it with a friend, or in my Pollyanna moments I start counting my blessings. Most of the time one of these will help but there have been times when nothing helps and I just have to ride out the moment.

I'd try and treat myself in ways other than eating... Things like having some time to yourself, read, pamper yourself, go for a drive or a leisurely walk somewhere scenic, go shopping for something you enjoy - doesn't have to be expensive - just something you like, visit a friend, learn to meditate, listen to soothing music...

If I had anger to work out, I used to go for a drive in the country and play angry music really loud meanwhile I'd sing (scream) along to it at the top of my voice!! :P

All the above work for me but the point is that you need to find little things that YOU enjoy and what helps YOU relax and unwind...

    Good luck! :)

CHORUS: Stress used to land me in the cafeteria with deep fried bacon with all the trimmings.

I've learned one thing about work stress. Find a buddy, someone you don't work with. See if they have work stress too because a lot of people just don't have stress on the job or they believe that it's just a part of the job and don't talk about it. It goes for all people really...it's all work, and it's all stressful. <see chorus>

There are stressors in every job--ones that you can control and ones you can't. I mean EVERY job. A lot of us are raising good kids and working 8-10 hour days, with activities 7 days a week. Who really has time to prepare dinner, do laundry, shopping, or just sit and relax. <see chorus>

I eat and I know I eat. The buddy I was talking about I'm sure they feel the same. We text, sometimes every day, and it works very well for me and keeps me away from the food which is what we are really trying to do.

Changing behaviors is very hard. Better decision making is very hard. But we try new things, and find ways to make it work.

You can do this...REALLY, You Can Do THIS!
