Cryolipolysis?

a friend and I was talking, and she brought up a procedure that I have never heard of... Cryoliplysis. In medical terminology, the word breaks down to... cold fat destruction...

The idea of the procedure, where doctors destroy fat cells by giving them freezer burn... well that is the layman's version anyhow. I was wondering if anyone has gone though with it... or do they know anthing more about it?

    What could possibly go wrong?

Plus it beats putting any effort into weight loss!

It is far from a life time fix... nothing is, unless if you have change something around. The side effects, are numbness and redness in the area... which tends to go away in an hour or so.

I was just seeking information, if anyone has tried it, does it work...

According to the FDA it does, and is alternative to liposuction

There is a place in town where I live where they are advertising like crazy for this procedure. "freeze your fat away!" I believe it works similarly to all of the lasers out there that break down fat tissue.

My issue with that is 1. It takes MULTIPLE treatments. 2. The treatments only work on one very small area. 3.this is extremely expensive when you need 10-15 treatments in ONE small area.

And finally! It doesn't teach you to change your eating/exercise habits. The fat if any that is lost will likely be re-gained.

why does everyone think I am talking about using it as a, bypass the workout... and head straight to the results, weight loss miracle?

No, I am just talking about a method to help lose the last bit of fat that is probably haunting you, and doesn't go away no matter how many hours in the gym you do... how many miles you ran... how long you at at your bmr....

Fat cells don't go away, after they are created... I was just wondering if anyone has done it.... but, I guess not. Sorry for your time

Vade, checkout realself.com. It's like Yelp for aesthetic stuff. Good luck!

I did it a little over a year ago. The "official/original" procedure is called Zeltiq. I have always been at a normal weight and in pretty good physical shape. As I have gotten older, I carry most of the fat I have in my inner thighs. According to others, I am the only one who sees it or thinks it's too much. My dermatologist (board certified physician, not just an aesthetician) began offering it. She only does it for people who are in the normal weight range because it is not a weight loss procedure. She would only do it on my inner thighs because, although I would have liked my saddlebag area done, she said there was not enough fat there for it to make a difference.

At first I liked the results. I only had 1 treatment. But I didn't make any changes to my eating or exercise. I worked out and ate decent already, but apparently not well enough to keep the at off. I gained back the 1/4 - 1/2 inch I lost pretty quickly. About 8 months after the procedure, I began using myfitnesspal, eating better, running and circuit training instead o just the weight lifting and minimal cardio I had been doing all the years before. After only about 6 weeks I had better results in my inner thigh area than I did with the Zeltiq. Plus I was more tone all around, and of course had the added benefits of a healthier lifestyle.

I posted on realself.com (MamaBear05 is my name there) when I had the procedure and wrote updates. I actually just wrote another yesterday in response to an inquiry. When I had it done, it was only FDA approved or the inner thigh, saddlebag area and tummy though I saw that some "spas" were ofering it or other areas. I would not do it anywhere but an actual doctor's office.

My thoughts on it now...I would rather buckle down and wait 6 weeks to see even better results than spend $1100 on the procedure.
  • This is a terrible procedure. I urge anyone who has the thought of doing it playing with his mind to STOP. I have done it last Wednesday and trust me, this is one of very few things in my entire life I wish I could take back. Forget the immense pain in the first 10 minutes, I am talking about after the procedure torture. I am severely bruised, I find myself suddenly bursting into tears from the pain and it's been already 4 days and I am getting very slightly better. Please don't do it, it is marketing gimmicks and only makes you live in pain. I read in some websites that this can go on for a month and I just dread the thought. I am tense, can't concentrate on anything, find it most difficult to stand up or walk or wear things on my stomach. Please do yourself a huge favour and don't do it.

I have had 2 sessions and no problem at all a little bruising but nothing huge and bruising gone within 5 days. It does help and my love handles is finally looking smelt than it was. So I am very pleased about it.
