I just bought a Polar HRM, went for a walk (3.75 mph) avarage HR 143 for 52 mins. At the end of the workout it says I burned 415Cal.
My question is, how accurate are this little computers? I really dont want to eat so many extra calories!
Thanks

It is the best measuring device you have available.

If you don't want to eat them, don't. I find mine helpful, but I don't think anything is 100% accurate.

    There is a thread
    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/548645-setup-polar-hrm-for-more-accurate-calorie-burn-for-known-bmr
    about calibrating it
Not sure if it is hokum or not.

My Polar is +/- 50 of the gym machines, so I'm guessing it's relatively accurate.

I have a polar also. I been working out on my treadmill and getting my calories burn from that before the polar. If I was going a slow walking speed the hrm was pretty much the same as the computer on my treadmill. If I was in fitness zone and going on high speed I burn off way more calories. My treadmill didn't compute my heart rate. So I believed that it's pretty much accurate.
