Recommendations needed re workouts please!

Hello!
Please could I have some recommendations on workouts you enjoy and find worthwhile?
At the minute I do a 30 minute run with my dog most days plus exercises every day for legs/bums/tums, but I’d quite like to get some kind of DVD or routine in place to lose weight and tone up faster – there are so many though that I don’t know where to begin looking!
I work full time and have a part-time voluntary job plus I’m studying law, so I don’t really have a lot of time on my hands.
Do you know of anything quick (say 20-30 minutes) that gets fast results? (I lose motivation if I don’t see results!)
Also, someone mentioned strength training to me as well but I know nothing about that – any advice on what to do would be great.
Thank you

For fast result in 30minutes look into Tabata training.
Its a form of interval training. 20seconds exercise, 10seconds rest, repeated 8 times. Pick four of five exercises and off you go0 -
you can try Billy Blanks TAE BO he is really good

I agree. For minimal time and maximum results. It's also as hard as hell... but I'm not aware of any effective exercise program that is easy.0 -
If you do 4 or 5 exercises, something like star jumps, sit ups of some sort, ski slides and burpees I reckon you'd see a good over all improve in your body
I do Skipping, sit ups, stars, and burpees. Only starting back at it, but has worked great before. Nevermind the DVD's
Doing burpees is the longest four minutes of your life0 -
Try Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD. I bought mine at Target ($9). It has 3 levels each lasting about 22 min including warm up/cool down. I did level 1 &2 7 days each then moved on to Level 3 for the remainder. I just finished the 30 days and loved it. Lost some inches especially in my stomach. Moving on to Ripped in 30 (jillian).
Hope this helps.0 -

This, I love Fitness Blender. They have all kinds of workouts for a variety of levels, and they are solid and not chatty. You can also play your own music to go along with them. Each workout is thoroughly described on their site. Also, the people that make them respond to pretty much every comment, answer questions, and they take requests.0 -
If you have Time Warner Cable, they have videos that have really cool excercies and routines. From latin dance, to walking, and all around workouts. I just started them but they are pretty cool. GO to the ON-DEMAND, then marketplace...and Im sure other cable carriers have them as well.0

Tabata would be dangerous for a true beginner, IMO.
New rules of lifting is a great place to start for lifting, which is what I do, so I can't help you with your other questions. To maintain your muscle mass while dieting, you have to consistently prove to your body that it needs it's muscle. So a set of weights or resistance bands would be a wise investment in lieu of a gym.
Best of luck!0 -
