Re-Gained Weight

Hey MFP,
I joined MFP a year ago, lost 30 pounds, and felt great. Then there we life changes, lots of excuses, and the holidays. I re-gained 15 pounds by January. It has taken until now for me to finally get back on track for more than 1 or 2 days. I feel like I am finally back in the "zone". Of course, it remains (as always) a daily struggle.
Have you had a similar experience? Do share!

I've definitely been there! Between work, school, relationship problems, holidays, etc, etc, it seems like there is always something that can pop up suddenly and derail progress. I've been on MFP for almost a year now, and I've gained back maybe a third of what I had lost, mostly in the past several months, though I'm back on track and have been for about a month now.
For me, the most important realization I've had over the year is that more important than exercise, more important than monitoring my calorie intake and my macros, is the ability to get back on track after a bad lapse - otherwise none of the rest of it matters. I'm human, I'm prone to make mistakes, fall off the wagon here and there for a week or more; unless I am able to pick myself up, dust myself off, and get back to a healthy lifestyle instead of burying myself under a load of guilt and disgust, I will end up right back where I started. Despite my occasional backsliding, I'm still ahead in the long run!0 -

Wow - how insightful! I NEED to remember this!0 -
happened to me too, before i joined MFP i was losing weight on my own and i went down from 205 lbs to 163, but now after a couple months of losing track im back to 180!
thats when i found this site, so basically i joined MFP 2-3 weeks ago and after a few days of hard work at the beginning where i was still over-eating, im now back on track & down to 178 lbs. (not a huge loss i know, but in just 2 weeks in, im happy with it). now that i've been logging in what i eat everyday i can see where the problem lies and can tackle them, so i hope to lose a steady amount every week.
i plan only to weigh myself once every month, not every 2 weeks but i just had to make sure i was losing weight again.
im just shocked that it took me about 6 months to lose 42 lbs but less than 2 months to GAIN back 17 lbs!!
i think my "healthy eating" meal plans before joining MFP was all wrong, thats why when i let go i gained so much back.
after reading through some threads i think i probably lost muscle mass instead of fat. :huh:0 -
Over 20 years i lost and gained back 8 to 25 pounds five or six times.
This time i am planning to lose and keep it off by always being on mfp0 -
Same thing happened to me too. I lost 10kg last year with Dukan and Atkins. Then I gained 5 until Christmas and another five since Christmas - so it is all back!
Another issue is that I had to quit my martial arts class that I had twice a week due to my husbands work schedule. So eating more and no more exercise got me there. I also had the feeling that after those very low carb diets I gain way too fast.0
