okay so I started really hitting the gym and watching what i eat closely 3 days ago... I'm on the nuva ring and have never had any bad side effects or problems with it... however I started my period 2 whole weeks early this month.. I know that when you drastically change your lifestyle it will mess with your period but normally its only ever made me late. I've never really been early. That and when i wipe it doesnt look the same (its thicker and not as red).. I don't get it, I didnt start any fad diet and the only thing i have cut out is the massive amounts of food that I was eating. I'm still eating some fats and oils!
Has anyone had similar experiences since starting MFP?
Also, this never happened before and I dieted hard last year and lost 35 lbs??

I used to be on the pill and anytime I would eat less carbs I would have heavier and shorter cycles. After I had my son in 2007, I went w the Mirena. I've noticed my periods even though still very light have been more frequent and a tad heavier. I think it is just your body changing. If you are sure you're not pregnant and you keep you're annual gyn appts, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I've also always heard that being overweight can really be hard on your hormones. And a lot of people even have a hard time getting pregnant if they are overweight. Then they lose weight and poof...prego. Hormones are evil!0 -
blood that is not as red is usually old blood. Could just be your body flushing buildup out.0

I would recommend calling your doctor. That seems like a major change and your doctors office can tell you if it is normal or a cause of concern.0

If you're losing a lot of water at the gym that could explain the difference in consistency.0

I haven't had personal experience with the Nuva ring but my sister did. She ended up having to stop using it because it messed with her system so badly. Her experience left her on her period for two months, anemic, and sluggish. If it is a different color it could just be old blood but if it doesn't seem right talk to your doctor.0

I`m not on any kind of birth control at all but when I first started working out Last year and watching my food more my period went crazy for a few months in a row.
first month I started early and it lasted 15days full force
then started back up within a week and last 8 days but much lighter then I leveled out after that and things actualy are very nice now that I`ve stuck with the new healthier life style. Its now 28-29days apart and only 3-4 days long and no cramps at all anymore.
I`m not a dr. Just wanted to say that yes it totaly could be your life style change doing this as mine surely was.0 -
is it still there? My only thought is maybe it came out somehow and triggered a period?0

Im on the pill, so im regular all the time, but there were two times now that i have bumped up my exercise and i also got my period about a week to week and a half early and it lasted longer than usual. I know that doesnt help you but youre not alone lol.0

In six years of being fitness and nutrition focused, I can't recall there ever being a change in my cycle. You might check with your doctor.0

When I started using Nuvaring, my period had the same consistency yours currently does. I called the doctor because I was worried, and she told me that the consistency/color change was nothing to worry about. However, my timing is still like clockwork.0

It may be "break through" bleeding around ovulation, rather than your period 2 weeks early. Various kinds of birth control can cause break through bleeding. Call your doctor or public health nurse if you are concerned.0
