I have naturally curly (now wavy from so much straightening) hair and I've been told that I look thinner with my hair straight, my mom even said that I look "disorganized and messy" when I have curly hair, haha.
Help?

I don't think when your hair is curly you appear disorganized and or messy--the thing with curly hair is that it's just a little extra work to take care of that beautiful natural curl! Make sure you're getting your hair trimmed on a regular basis and that your hairstylist is never using a razor on your hair. Razor cutting and thinning shears will shred the cuticle and your curls turn to frizz really quick! Also, do you use a conditioner that is a moisture treatment? If so, that is a great first step--but moisture is only part of keeping curly hair (or any hair type in this case), healthy. Do a protein or keratin treatment as well. I recommend my clients get a keratin treatment every time the seasons change. 4 times a year.
Straight or curly, you have great hair! There's just a few tips to help keep your curls looking sharp and healthy0 -
Honestly, I think that you look gorgeous either way! I think your hair looks so sleek and shiny when you straighten it, but I also think that your hair has that exotic waviness when curly. So I think you're fine either way You're a gorgeous girl with a beautiful face. I don't see how you can go wrong0

You ladies are amazing!!!! Thanks!! I actually do have keratin treatment in my hair, I've had it done about 4 times in the last 3 years and I loooooove it! I need to get it done in the next few months again.0

I honestly like both! You can mix it up when you want. Thats the awesome part of having naturally curly hair.0
-
I love the curls. It's cute and different. I am biased though. I've got naturally curly hair also0
-
You look great with both! But I think straight hair looks better with your face shape and bone structure. Honestly though, you can do both.0

You know, I straighten my curly hair sometimes and I feel more polished and put together, but the feedback I've gotten (especially from men) is that they prefer it curly.
With that being said, you look beautiful either way.0 -
Love it curly! : D0

You look fabulous both ways. You do NOT look messy or disheveled or whatever with curly hair. I absolutely adore curly hair and actually attempt to curl my naturally very straight hair to do so (and it never listens).
I cannot say either way makes you look thinner, but whatever way you more enjoy wearing it, do it that way. You look fantastic in both regards.
one more vote for curly0 -
I love curly hair! Mine is only naturally wavy so with a little work I can go either way, I love having the option though. You look great with your hair either way.0

Chica! You look fabulous with your hair curly! It looks full and healthy and those spirals are very soft and romantic! Straighten sometimes you when like to, but keep those luxurious curls Sweety!0

I haven't had too many opinions from guys, except my first bf-he loved it curly, he also had a thing for braids and for when i put my hair up, lol.0 -
This thread really could use a guy's point of view.
Curly looks great. Straight looks good too, but that should be left for an occasional change. Rock the curls, and straighten every once in a while. That's my two cents.0 -

Curlys are cute..straight hair is sexy, so i guess it just goes by what you feel like.0

i love both but mine are straight0

I like both.. On lazy days I keep mine curly with some sea salt and then just curl the sides away from my face.. On days when I want to have straight, then I have it straight.. I love options.0

It looks great straight.
I do wish I had curly hair though.
/jealous lol0 -
Tell your Ma that she is crazy! Curls look girly and romantic. Both look great!
I do notice with my hair that my face looks thinner when its straight. It's just an illusion. Sometimes curls can emphasize width of the face. Mine is like that. One reason I prefer mine straight.0 -

that's how i usually feel as well! I don't think i've worn mine curly out to the bar/club but maybe once or twice. The one i'm with my sisters-we had been at the beach all day-thus all of us having curly hair that day lol0 -
I REALLY like curly but you look great with both styles.0

I think that straight hair is pretty, but it is also common. I think your curls look great and beacuse of that, it is a way to be noticed and stick out of the crowd. The beautiful spirals are unique. So I'd go to the clubs with curly hair.
I also have naturally curly hair. Flattening irons weren't so readily available when I was coming up, so the possibility of getting my hair straight is a new thing for me. And I like my hair when it is straight, but I look like everyone else. People who know me notice that I look different, but other than that, its sort of plain.
I'd rock the curls, cuz you can, and not everyone can.
There are some beautiful women with straight hair, and lots of straight hair styles I've wanted over the years, but the process of appreciating the curls I have and even seeing them as an asset or unique special thing was a long one. So Its early, and I haven't written the stuff above as well as I might have if I were up longer. No insult to straight hair is intended, just a focus on the uniqueness and special features of curly hair.0 -
Straight definetly does a better look for you! save curly for those summer nights0

I think you look great with both.
I've got naturally curly hair myself and it's a pain in the bum at times. Mine just likes to go frizzy no matter what I try (well, it'll look amazing and curly for a few hours and then game over) which is annoying. It's also embarrassing when it's tangle free when I leave the house but by the time I get to the hairdressers it's like it hasn't been brushed in months. That said, I really can't be bothered with straightening it and the time that takes so it just stays a slightly frizzy mess.0 -
I think you look great either way. Wear it how you like to wear it. I have curly hair as well now wavy because of my straightening as well. I wear it straight once a week and keep it curly to cut down on time. hope this helps XOXO0

You look great either way. I have similar hair and I love it that we have the flexibility to change it whenever we please. Curly hair always looks cute and straight hair just looks really polish.....but do both...its fun to switch it around.0

I like it curly.
I also have naturally curly hair. As a teen, I used harsh straighteners, set my hair in HUGE rollers (slept on them) and anything I thought would pull the curl out. All my friends with straight hair would do anything to get curly hair...perms, small rollers, pin curls, etc. Too funny. And, too bad we can't be happy with what we are blessed with. :laugh:0
