So I have figured out my calorie needs for a day - 1700 a day. As I am planning my meals for a day I am always going over on proteins by 10 grams and under on carbs by 100. Do I need to be right on the amount? I have a hard enough time with this for it is way too much food for me and the healthier it is, the more food is involved. Yesterday was my first day with the new eating plan and I thought I was going to explode!

Protein is just fine to go over on. Protein is something your body benefits from big time.

As for carbs you don't have to have them, so being under is perfectly okay. They are useful for your body but your body has ways of producing glucose without them.

Personally though, I still love my carbs. But if you are eating just low carbs that is perfectly fine.

No, I think it is wonderful that you are under carbs and over protein. Way to go!

i have set my percentages at carb40%, fat30%, protien30%......like you i was always going over on protien and never using up all the carbs. you can adjust your percentages yourself , on the food diary page click on the *settings* tab and you can change out the preset amounts.

It won't hurt to go over your protein(or any macro) slightly & if you find you are under on carbs BUT have enough energy, again no problems. These are just guidelines, well structured guidelines but it is what works for you.

For me I need carbs or have low mood swings, also I am working out so obviously need protein, I don't worry if my macros aren't perfect, I prefer to concentrate on the "whole" number.
